suddenly, brynn's mom had barged into her room leaving brynn in shock, dropping her phone on her bed that she was sitting on.
"hey b." ashlee spoke, smiling at her daughter. "i'm just wondering, but, have you been seeing that boy?"
"who's 'that boy'?" brynn questioned.
"that blonde young man— i think it was maybe cameron? something like that." her mom hesitated.
"that's carson, mom— but no, i haven't." brynn lied as ashlee smiled, proud of her daughter.
"well, i'm sorry if i'm bothering you. i don't mean to, and i just want you to be safe." the older woman said.
"what's wrong with carson?" brynn wondered.
"nothing, really," her mom said awkwardly. "just, avoid him."
"but, that will be a problem, mom." brynn said. "his dad invited me over for dinner this weekend."
"jon-" ashlee stuttered among her words as brynn was confused with what she said.
"jon? my friend, johnny?" brynn asked.
"no, it's nothing," ashlee spoke. "i'll come with you."
