"Work tomorrow, back to reality." I sigh, looking up at Jennifer from the bathtub which is filled with bubbles. "Fun stuff, babe. I have to go grab something from the store, but I'll be back soon." She tells me, correcting a few stray-strands of her hair. She walks over to the tub and leans down, kissing my lips quickly before leaving me.
I can't help but think about how lucky I am, how lucky we are. Our relationship started out as this crazy, illegal fling and now here we are. I am going to marry this girl, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
My life has changed dramatically. No more psycho-controlling dad to ruin my life, my enabler of a mother is only present when I need her to be, and my little brother is thriving and happy with his life. It's a win for everyone involved.
After a few hours, Jennifer returns home and I'm folding the giant pile of clothes on our bed.
"I'm home." She smiles, walking into the room. "I see that. Did you find what you needed?" I ask her. "I did... come here." She demands. She's up to something.
I wearily walk to her and she kisses me slowly. "I'm not arguing with you, but what are you doing?" I smile, kissing her perfect lips again. Jennifer giggles and bites her lip, "I have something for you." She slips her hand into her pocket and I furrow my brows, "what? I'm scared." I laugh. "Close your eyes." She tells me.
I do what I'm asked and she grabs my hand and I feel her slide a ring onto my finger. My eyes shoot open and Jennifer laughs, "I didn't say open them." I look down at me hand at the ring she just gave me and it makes me emotional. She loves me. I bite down on quivering lip and sling my arms around her neck, squeezing her as tight as I can. "I love you so fucking much." I remind her. She strokes my back with her hand, "I know you do, baby. I feel the same way about you." She kisses my neck several times and my heart starts to race. I couldn't ask for anything more.

"I'm freaking the hell out." I sigh, watching Jennifer set the table with food, plates and decorative napkins. "This apartment isn't made for hosting big parties. What if-" Jennifer cuts me off with a kiss. "Leah, I love you and all... but if you don't shut up I'm going to smack you. It's fine." She insists. I bite my lip and nod my head.
There is a knock on the door, so I hurry to answer it when Jennifer finishes up in the kitchen.
I'm met with the gaze of my former-professor and Jennifer's mom. "Leah, so good to see you!" Her mom smiles, wrapping me in a hug. I smile and let them inside. Before I can close the door, Jennifer's sister and her family arrive too.
Everyone files into the apartment and Jennifer greets them as well.
"Dinner just got done, so let's eat before it gets cold." She says, motioning to the table. I take the chair beside Jennifer and dinner gets off to a smooth start. Light conversation with some jokes and laughs in between.
My heart races the whole time, and I know Jennifer can tell. She keeps giving me these looks, but they're not helping. I feel her hand on my leg beneath the table and I look at her. "Stop freaking out."
I sigh hard and roll my eyes. If it were only that easy.
"Okay... I can't sit here like this." Jennifer sighs, loudly. Everyone looks at her and she glances at me, "Leah is having a mini-meltdown over here, so I'll go ahead and get this out of the way..." she says, eyeing me. I force a smile and I feel like I'm going to throw up all of the food I just consumed.
"Last weekend, Leah and I took a trip together..." Jennifer begins. "It was a good thing for us, and we came to some certain realizations." Every time she pauses I can hear my heart beating in my ears. "We decided that.. we're going to get married, and we wanted to inform all of you because we love and care for each of you." She's good at little speeches, and she's so calm.
I shift my eyes to her sister and she smiles widely at me. "Finally. Congratulations." She says. I laugh nervously and Jennifer squeezes my hand. "Thank you..."
I watch Jennifer and her parents exchange looks, and I get nervous... until I see two smiles forming on the faces of her parents.
Jennifer goes and hugs them both, and I can tell it's an emotional moment for her.
"I guess I can thank you, dad... without you forcing me to come to your school all those times I'd have never met Leah." Jennifer jokes. "I'd have found a way to meet you." I tease. She winks at me and walks over to me, kissing me softly.
That went much better than I expected it to. Maybe I was freaking out for no reason. Oh well.
Dinner ends on a great note, and soon after everyone leaves our apartment.
I smile and lean against the doorframe of the kitchen, eyeing Jennifer as she cleans up the mess that was made.
"Whats with the look?" She asks. "I don't know if it's just because I'm madly in love with you and I find your every move sexy, or if it's because you really are just that sexy... but the way you handled that..." I smirk.
She laughs and casually walks over to me, snaking her arms around my waist. "You got turned on by me confessing my unending love for you to my family? Oh, you're in love love." She teases. I roll my eyes and let my fingers slide into her hair. "You know what I'm most excited about when it comes to marrying you?" I smirk. "What's that?" "That I get to kiss you... and touch you... and sleep with you for the rest of my life." I grin and kiss her lips tenderly. I pull her into me and she giggles under my lips, "baby, I have to clean up." She whispers, still kissing me.
"Jennifer. Shut the hell up. You can clean up later." I tease and slip away from her, looking her dead in the eyes while I back away towards the bedroom. I pull my shirt off and she shakes her head at me, "unbelievable."
The End.
