I saw Brandon waving at me, gesturing me to stay where I was.

"TEN!"

"NINE!"

"EIGHT!"

He pushed through the crowd to get to me. I saw his mouth move but couldn't quite hear what he was saying.

"SEVEN!"

"What?" I shouted over the chants.

"SIX!"

"FIVE!"

"I...you!" His voice was muffled and I could only catch a few words.

"FOUR!"

My face was still confused and so he lowered himself to the side of my face, his lips basically touching my ear.

"THREE!"

"...you!" His voice was finally made audible but I still had my brows furrowed, trying to piece together what he was telling me. "Screw it."

"Screw wha-"

And he kissed me. Again.

"TWO!"

I pulled back to look at him straight in the eye.

Then - it was as if my whole body took over - I tugged onto the lapels of his coat and connected our lips once more.

"ONE!"

The cheers of "happy new year" faded away as I melted into the moment, savouring every second of it.

His hands rested at the small of my back, pulling me into him as close as he could, as if he wanted us to mould into one. Everything about him was enhanced; his touch, his scent. It was as if in that moment, it was only me and him in the room - our sole focus: each other.

He broke the kiss and held my face so our foreheads would be touching. His eyes were in line with mine, staring deeply into them.

Smiling weakly, he asked, "Will you be my girlfriend?"

I opened my eyes, waking abruptly from my dream. Groaning, I squeezed my eyes shut and placed a pillow over my face to force the dream to continue.

Sadly, it doesn't work like that.

So instead, I sat up and stared at my wall, thinking about Brandon. My days usually started off like that after the party. Even on Christmas morning with my brother jumping up and down on my bed, my first thought was always about the stupid, four-eyed hotshot soon-to-be popstar.

After that day however, we haven't seen each other since. Which was understandable since we had stuff going on. Me, being with my family for Christmas and him, being swamped with trying to get back home to his own family.

Due to the weather being so extreme, all flights had been cancelled and their flight had been pushed back for another week. I wasn't sure what day they were leaving though.

My ringtone blaring out in full volume startled me, making me jump a little. I reached to my bedside table to check who was calling at such an early hour.

Speak of the devil.

Well, more like think of the devil.

This was the first time he's called in a week.
