Peeta's POV
                          
I looked at the coil as it slowly unraveled. Then, I watched as Johanna and Katniss slowly disappeared with it into the forest. The dark trees obscuring my vision of the brown braid I've grown familiar with. I couldn't help but feel a pang in my heart as I realized that could possibly be the last time I saw Katniss.
                          
Shut up, I chastized myself. She promised to meet me at midnight, didn't she? I'll see her again.
                          
She promised.
                          
I turned to Beetee who's eyes were concentrated on the tree covered with gold wire. His hands mechanically wired the trunk of the tree and occasionally pushed his glasses back with his calloused hands.
                          
Fulfilling my duty as Beetee's guard, I glanced over the trees for any signs of the Careers and held my weapon, a knife, ready.
                          
"Uh, Peeta?" Beetee's tired voice called. I turned to him and waited for him to finish speaking.
                          
"I might need that knife of yours." He said in between grunts as he struggled to tie the wires together.
                          
"Why?" I ask while handing him the knife I was holding. 
                          
"Oh, you'll see." His eyes were still focused on the wires so he had to reach out to get the knife in my hands. 
                          
I was really confused with what Beetee was planning to do with the knife. Has it something to do with the force field?
                          
The sudden stop of the gold coil unraveling cut my thoughts. Then, we hear a loud snap and the other end of the gold wire was pulled back to us. We jumped from the tree as the cut wire hit the trunk. Silence dawned upon us as we tried to comprehend what happened.
                          
Someone must have cut the wire... 
                          
Then it hit me.
                          
Something happened to Katniss and Johanna.
                          
"Katniss," I widened my eyes in worry. "Beetee, I think something happened to them."
                          
"Peeta!" Beetee called out as I sprinted towards the direction Katniss and Johanna went to. 
                          
As I ran in the forest, my feet crunched against the dead leaves and the eerie silence of the forest just screamed, DANGER.
                          
The silence was suddenly disrupted by the footsteps and voices of whom I recognized as the Careers. Brutus and Enobaria.
