"Mom would be so proud of you socializing." Luke sarcastically said, his eyes skimming over the menu. Just a second later, a waiter came up to us and asked what we wanted to drink and just like always, Luke and I both got a coke. As soon as the waiter left to get our drinks, Lucas spoke again. "Speaking of mom, where is she?"
"What? She didn't tell you?" I guess I shouldn't have expected anything more from her. "Uh, another fashion emergency. You know how it is."
Lucas was slumped in his seat, a pout on his lips. "I don't, actually. It's whatever."
The waiter then came back, sitting our drink in front of us. "You two ready to order?"
"Luke?"
"Just the regular, Ryan." He sighed, handing the menu over to the man that had been working here all of our lives.
Ryan looked over at me questioningly. "And you?"
"Nothing for me." I gave him the smile I had reserved for strangers.
He nodded, picking up my menu and walking away.
I looked around for a brief second, my eyes stopping at the entrance where Caroline stood. She was now joined by her boyfriend and Elena.
"I'm gonna go talk to Elena for a second, Luke. Stay here." I got up from my chair, giving him a stern look.
"Whatever."
My brows furrowed at his sudden mood but walked over to my friends anyway. "He's already been hit on, like, thirty-five times. He's total cougar bait." I heard Caroline boast about Matt.
"Yeah, he is." I agreed with a smile as I walked up to them. "Who doesn't love the boy next door vibe?" I slung my arm around Matt's shoulder, it being uncomfortable for me because he was almost a foot taller than me. "Also, sorry for ditching you earlier, Matthew. I had to take a drunk baby home."
"It's all good, Ron."
"Hi, Mrs. Donovan." Caroline said enthusiastically, her eyes looking at the good for nothing mother than just walked in.
Kelly looked at Caroline before her eyes shifted towards Elena, a smile growing on her face as she brought the Gilbert girl in for a hug. "Elena, honey."
"Hi, Kelly." Elena laughed.
"Long time, no see."
"How are you doing?"
"Oh, same old. Oh. Mattie tells me you broke his heart." Kelly suddenly said, a pout on her lips.
"Mom."
"Just kidding. Calm down." She looked over at her son, a distasteful look on her face when she saw me and as usual, she ignored me. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with her loving my dad all her teenage years and then my mom swooped in and stole him from her. Since my mom wasn't around when Kelly came home once in a blue moon, her hate for Molly was directed towards me.
Kelly's eyes looked back at Elena, "He found his rebound girl." She not-so-subtly glanced at Caroline. "Oh. Here you go, sweetheart." She spoke to Caroline, pulling money out of her purse and handing it to the blonde. Meanwhile, I had a laser-like glare trained on Kelly, hoping I suddenly unlock my superpowers and burn off Kelly's hand. "However many that'll buy. I just hope I don't get bachelor three. I dated him in high school. Not impressive." She then whispered, "In any way."
I was unable to contain the snort that came out of my mouth, earning a nasty look from the old Donovan woman.
Caroline handed Kelly a couple of raffle tickets, a smile on her face. Kelly grabbed them, "Very exciting." She clicked her tongue before walking away.
