You're A Hero

It was stupid of me to not notice this sooner

It was stupid of me to not notice this sooner. The holographic arrow had already lodged itself right in the position where my heart was.

My sword was gone, my hand hovering over the pierced arrow with wide eyes, the dark room now filled with light again. Hand quivering slightly, it felt as if my heart had really stopped.

"Task failed."

"Honestly Shiro, how many times do I have to repeat that you can't just keep looking straight while in battles?" The agitated tone in my mother's voice was evident, the door appearing from the wall as she stepped through it.

"Sorry, I guess. I've never had any chance of engaging with villains that can fly above me yet." I grumbled, already the arrow fading away as the system returned to the main page, hearing her sigh as she stands before me.

"You'll be facing them sooner or later. And by then, you have to be ready for it. Fighting as a Hero means being alert of all your surroundings. That means from above and under you." Feeling her hand cupping my cheek, I look up at her, giving a small smile and nod.

"Can we go again?"

Stepping out of the narrow bridge hallway, I take in the view of the familiar characters of Japanese instead of the European language I had been seeing all week.

With my backpack slung on and my case in hand, I walk out towards the main train line that leads out to the city, the sounds of traffic blaring as muffled noise in the distance.

Upon finding a seat in the train, I sat myself down and began looking through my phone for any news I might have missed. Scrolling through the many news articles, my finger stops at the sight of a certain headline.

Hero Endeavour saves U.A. Students from The Hero Killer: Stain!

With an eyebrow raised, I click into the page to read at the passages of news, only to have my eyes wide and hands trembling in shock upon seeing the images and words.

Seeing the image of Todoroki covered in blood and with his costume tattered had rattled me, the pounding of my heart seeming to boom louder in my ears, his face scrunched up in the slightest with pain.

With my eyes still glued to the screen of my phone, the paragraphs of news and words from different other Pro Heroes about another two Nomu's appearing amidst the attack as well hadn't calmed my worried state in the slightest.

Without any other disturbances, I continue to read through the whole article until the part where the image of Endeavour being interviewed after the attack, his face holding no emotion except for the usual scowl he bears.

The whole article was beyond anything but shocking to me. Especially the idea of three of my classmates getting hurt from it. But there was something that I was wondering in the back of my mind.

If Endeavour really was the one who defeated Stain, then why didn't he bear any injuries while Todoroki, Midoriya and Iida were the ones who bled?

Stepping through and into the class, the sounds of laughter and chattering filled me, my eyes taking in a head of gelled down blonde hair before a smirk made its way onto my face.

"Is that you, Katsuki? And with your hair down?" Interrupting the laughter from both Sero and Kirishima, I stand right in front of the ash blonde, earning a glare from him.

"Shut the fuck up, you two-faced Oreo. The shit Best Jeanist put in my hair wouldn't come off!" He growled, small crackles erupting in the palms of his hands, showing how agitated he really was which made my smirk grow.

"I must say, he did a great job. I almost didn't recognise you. But it doesn't really suit you all that much." Sifting a hand through the hardened tuft of hair on his head, I let out a little bit of white energy and ruffle through his locks, instantly returning to it's spiked up form.

"There, much better. You look so weird with a cowlick. The porcupine look suits your pretty face much more." Removing my hand from his head, I shoot a wink at him upon the sight of his slightly flustered -whether it be from anger or embarrassment- face and head towards my seat.

With my bag now placed down, I look up to see Todoroki staring right back at me, his blazer off and the sleeves of his undershirt covering his arms.

"Shoto..." His name had rolled off my tongue faster than I had even thought of calling out to him, seeing him get up from his seat as he takes steps towards me.

"You're... You're okay right? I saw the news..." My eyes held worry as I glanced at both of his arms and then up to his face, seeing the faint line that stretched across his left cheek that had yet to fully heal.

"Yes, I'm fine Shiro. Like you've read, Endeavour saved us." A evident tone of hatred and venom was found in his words, his eyes seeming to harden from saying the certain name of his father.

"No need to lie, Shoto." I smiled, confusing him as he stared down at me, seeming to have dozens of questions about what I'm talking about swimming in his head.

"What do you mean?" He questioned, giving a moment to glance around at the class to make sure no one would here before turning back to me, still seeing that my smile had not disappeared.

"I know that's not true. It's not Endeavour who's the Hero here.-" My hand went to take his in it, intertwining our fingers and lifting it up to show him our joined hands before continuing. "-It's you, and Izuku and Iida who are the true Heroes."

"Shiro..." His voice was soft, eyes being practically identical to it as he looks at me, the hand that was entwined with mine squeezed back, a smile donning his lips.

"You're a Hero, Shoto. No matter what everyone else thinks. You're a Hero to me."
