Namjoon watched Seokjin wander happily into the coffee shop, the same way he had done for the past few months. The other workers always refused to serve Seokjin, though Namjoon never had a clue why. He would often hear two of the baristas giggling with each other about 'how obvious' Namjoon was but he didn't quite understand what he was being obvious about.
"Nice to see you again, Seokjin. Your order is the same as last time, I suppose?" Namjoon asked, startling Seokjin out of the fantasy land he was in while reading. The older of the two soon realised who had disrupted him and grinned at the barista with a hint of playfulness underlying.
"You know me best," he responded before turning back to his book, though the smile didn't fade. Namjoon turned around to head back to make the same coffee he had been making for months now. However, before he had properly started, he remembered something.
Seokjin was lactose intolerant.
When he first started going to the coffee shop, he had always asked if they had almond milk, though they never did. Namjoon had always felt bad for Seokjin, seeing as they didn't have the thing he wanted, but today, they did. Namjoon marched into the staff room and opened the door of the fridge, searching for the blue, plastic bag with his name labelled on the front. It wasn't hard to miss so he pulled it out, unwrapped the carton of almond milk and tossed the bag away before returning to his coffee-making.
He really hoped that Seokjin appreciated the small gesture, though he didn't know if it would be that noticeable to him - since he had never tried lactose-free milk or almond milk, he didn't know if they tasted different. Seokjin's favourite coffee never took that long to make, possibly because Namjoon was so accustomed to making it now that he didn't have to check the steps for it, so he had produced the blend and added Seokjin's favourite extras, such as chocolate shavings and whipped cream, before nervously walking over to the table and setting it down before the elder, who was still very absorbed in his book.
Classic Adventures. Maybe I should try reading that one day.
