Jimin freezes. He whips his head to Taehyung, then back to me. He opens his mouth then closes it back again, his eyes darting from me to Taehyung, then back to me.

For a moment I forget what's actually going on, but a loud bang brings me back. And that bang being Taehyung tackling Jimin to the ground as he attempts to strangle him.

He really has a thing for choking.

I sprint back to the room, grab the collar and the remote and dash back to the living room where my hybrid was killing my neighbour and best friend.

I jump atop Taehyung, and in one swift move I lock the collar around his neck. He pushes me away and stands up, leaving a wheezing Jimin alone as he glares at me.

I hold the remote towards him threateningly, and he just stares. He knows I have the weapon. One step closer, and he knows I'd press that button.

I have no intention of actually doing it, but he doesn't look like he's backing up.

"What the hell Hanseol?!" Jimin yells. He's now on his feet and he's staring at us in utter disbelief.

I glance at him then back at the hybrid.

Taehyung steps forward, and I step back.

"Don't," I mutter, tightening my grip around the remote.

He raises an eyebrow, challenging me, and steps forward again.

I love challenges.

"Don't," I repeat. And I'm not asking him to not step forward, but I'm asking him to not challenge me, because I'll do it, and I shouldn't.

A smirk makes its way to his lips, and I gulp.

"You won't do it," He simply says.

"Oh yeah? Try me," I breathe out.

"Hanseol," Jimin warns, even though I'm pretty sure he doesn't know what's going on.

Taehyung turns to Jimin, and the smirk on his face goes even more evident.

Oh no.

Jimin's eyes widen and he looks at me.

No, not Jimin.

Taehyung launches forward, and Jimin screams, but he's soon interrupted by a much deeper, much pained scream, and I feel a little guilty.

I release the button, and Taehyung's now on the floor, panting. He looks up at me and shows his fangs, his growl louder than ever.

Jimin is still in shock, now sitting in one corner with a hand clasped over his mouth and his eyes almost out of their sockets.

Taehyung stands up again, this time facing me and I raise my eyebrows, shaking the remote, showing no hesitance of pressing the button again.

"Please go to your room, Taehyung," I say and try to sound as polite as I can. It's not an order, but a request.

"I need to have a talk with Jimin," I clarify, glancing at the still shocked friend in the far corner.

"Please," I add, now leaving my arm to fall beside me. Something flickers in his eyes, but he's still glaring, and with heavy slow steps and one last glance, he's back to the corridor and to his room.

Jimin lets out a strangled breath and approaches me with wobbly legs. He sits on the couch and looks up at me, his eyes still wide.

"Mind if you explain why you have a Code Red in your apartment?" He speaks.

I let out a breath, too, and fall beside him on the cushions.

"A project. I'm doing a research about Code Reds," I say.

"He almost attacked me," Jimin whispers.

I roll my eyes. "Lucky you. He already attacked me."

"What?!"

"It's nothing serious. I'm fine now," I shrug. "And it's my fault anyway. I removed his collar so that he trusts me but he strangled me instead."

"Are you okay?" Jimin asks, his eyes scanning my face.

I nod. "It was weird, though. He was strangling me, but he released pressure every few seconds, as if he didn't really want to do it."

"But he strangled me for real," Jimin says blankly and I laugh.

"It's not funny!" He whines and stands up, and I laugh even louder.

He rolls his eyes and crosses his arms, looking away. My laughter dies down and I wipe away some tears.

Jimin looks down at me and his eyes soften, then he sits back again.

"How's Jungkook, by the way?" I ask.

"He's fine. He really wants to see you."

"I miss him, too. Bring him over whenever you can."

Jungkook is a rabbit Code Green hybrid. Jimin's parents adopted him a long time ago when he was still a baby, and he and Jimin grew up together.

When Jimin moved out of his parent's house, he insisted on taking Jungkook with him, and now they live together in the apartment right next to mine.

Hybrids are either too clever and strong, or too weak and slow, and Jungkook is the latter. Even though he sometimes seems mature, he's a kid at heart and is very kind.

The complete opposite of Taehyung.

And that reminds me, Code Reds not only attack humans, but sometimes weaker hybrid breeds, too, just like rabbits since they're preys.

Jungkook can't come over if Taehyung's here.
