★★★
Three stars out of five for the creative idea behind this dystopian story!Author: S_Nuvie
Genre: Science Fiction
Review:
A problem I found with the plot, is that it wasn't "pulling me in". I feel this might be because the reader is given little to none knowledge about the nature of Alyssa's mission - we know that she's spying on the council to find out about their latest project and we know her reason(s) for doing it, but we don't know why her mother wants her to do this. Her mother's reasons are the actual motive behind the whole plot and the readers haven't been given one.
I think that descriptive language could be improved. I feel that whenever the scene is described, facts are just stated. Remember this is a book, not a playwright. You need to paint the picture of what the scene looks like in the reader's mind, as well as what the characters look like. Mannerisms are important as well.
My favourite character so far, is Stardust Mitchel. He is the best described character so far and the epitome of a strict teacher.
I found few flaws in spelling and grammar.
I love the idea of this very different approach on a dystopian story and I know that with a little work, this book will be great.
