Chapter 8 - Miss Stanford

____________________________________

"Mr Hawthorne is much too busy to see you, Miss Stanford." I apologised to the gorgeous dark-haired model standing before me.

"He called me here!" She said using her high pitched voice.

"He did?" I asked confused.

Brandon usually tells me if he had invited someone over to the office which is why I was seriously doubting this woman.

"Yes. Go ask him, Miss Hayes." She responded glancing at my name tag.

"Alright please have seat?" I said and gestured to the peach coloured sofa in the waiting room to wait for Brandon to come and see her.

I slammed the door open to Brandon's office not bothering to knock at all.

"You should know to kno- Ashley?" He said.

"Miss Stanford is looking for you. She is in the first lounge." I said and walked away. I sat in my office and peeped out the window.

In my mind, I saw him run to her and they hugged as if their lives depended on it. That thought alone unleased darkness on my mood. I was relatively relieved to see that in reality, they had only shaken hands but still... why was she here? Why hadn't Brandon told me about her arrival?

I wanted to barge into his office and demand information from him, however, I couldn't do that. I was merely an employee. Whatever he does in there... with her... it's none of my business. It was killing me on the inside. I was itching to go in there and demand answers but I couldn't do that. I had no right. It wasn't Brandon's fault that my feelings were getting the way.

The day dragged slowly on. I buried myself in work and buried myself in arranging files in alphabetical order well that is until Lissa burst into my office with a brown paper bag.

"Where were you at Lunch, Missy?" She said putting her hands on her hips and glaring at me.

"Sorry. I had a lot of work to deal with." I said and she sighed.

"Lucky for you, you have an awesome, glamourous and thoughtful friend like me. I bought you some food!" She said and handed me the brown paper bag.

I slowly began unwrapping the brown paper and almost immediately the delicious smell of food wafted into my nostrils and I felt myself salivating. My stomach grumbled and only then did I realise how hungry I was.

"Smells good!" I commented but Lissa just smirked.

"Taste it!" She said excitedly.

"Did it fall on the floor?" I asked and her face fell.

"No." She said.

"Goodie," I said and ate the contents. Lissa had brought me a bunch of crispy chicken strips with some fried slap chips. She had topped that with lots of tomato sauce, chilli salt and some vinegar.

"That was heavenly!" I cried out.

"I knew you would like it!" Lissa said and flicked her dark hair, her blue eyes glittering.

"You did?" I raised my eyebrow slightly and she laughed.

"Yes, I made it!" She said and I smiled.

"Oh. Well you are a good chef." I told her as I nodded my head in approval.

"Oh?" She mocked, "Oh?" Her eyes bulged out and I just laughed at her silly face.

"Brandon tell me a joke?" I pleaded with him.
