Dr. O
Fallout New Vegas
Warning: NoneI woke up quickly, slid on a coat, jeans, and boots, and exited my house quietly. I went over to Zero's and knocked on the door. There wasn't a response. I sighed and entered. These 'geniuses' never locked their doors. I entered quietly, and looked around. He had a destroyed Securitron in one corner, and a whole bunch of tools splayed out around it, alongside miscellaneous wires and scraps of metal. I walked up the stairs, and entered his room. The frame of his bed was leaned against the wall, blocking his dresser, and his mattress was on the floor. He lay splayed out, shirtless, still asleep. I sighed, and walked over. I dug the toe of my boots into his bare ribs.
His eyes fluttered open and he looked to me lazily. He smiled, "Morning."
"Morning, Zero. C'mon. We have to go check on the lab."
He sighed, and put his hands behind his head, arching his back as he stretched. I looked at his form silently. He relaxed again before sitting up and scratching his hair, "Do we have to?"
"I do. You wanna stay here? Sleep in some more?"
He shook his head, "No." He pointed behind me to a drawer on the floor, "Can you grab a shirt for me?"
I bent over and snatched up a blue one before tossing it to him. He didn't bother trying to catch it, letting it simply slap his face and fall into his lap. He held it up, making it sure it was the right way before pulling it over his head and down his torso. He held both of his hands up. I grabbed them and helped him to his feet. He puffed air from his cheeks, "You can wait downstairs if you want."
I grinned, mocking him, "You sure you can get ready all by yourself?"
He smiled sweetly, "I'm a big boy." He was always adorable in the mornings.
I rolled my eyes at him before going down the stairs and to the kitchen, examining the contents of his fridge. I found a thing of eggs and got them out. I opened cupboards before finally finding a pan and placing it on his stove. I cracked the eggs on it, watching them sizzle. I heard a crash and poked my head into the living room. I saw Zero face first on the floor next to the foot of the stairs. I smiled and walked over, "Did you trip?"
He looked up at me from beneath his hair, "No."
I raised my brows.
"Maybe."
He sniffed the air and got to his feet, walking into the kitchen, "What are you making?"
"Eggs."
"Can you teach me how? You're a better cook than me."
Zero came over to my house almost daily for meals, seeing he had the cooking ability of a uncooked pasta noodle.
"Sure thing. Come here." He did so, watching with interest. I pulled him next to me, and put the spatula in his hand. "You see when the bottom starts to come up off the surface?"
"Yeah...?"
"That means you have to mix it up some. Just flip the egg over." I put my hand on his wrist and helped him. He grinned, "This is cool! Are we done yet?"
I smiled, "Almost. Go sit down at the table and I'll get these finished up. Where are your plates?" He pointed to a corner of the counter, where numerous plates were on top of each other. We ate in haste, and slid out the door as the sun peeked over Klein's house at the head of the street. Borous stepped out of his house, adjusting the collar of his lab coat. 8 exited his as well. Both men caught up with us quickly. Borous looked to us, "And where are you two going?"
I rolled my eyes, "The lab. Checking up on the chemicals. Making sure they're still usable and whatnot. I told you yesterday."
8 elbowed Zero, "You sure?"
Zero glared at him, "Yes. I'm sure."
Dala pokes her head out of her house, her short blacked hair shining, "Guys guess what!"
We turned around.
"What?"
She held up a fist in triumph, "I got laid last night!" I gave her a hoot and the guys rolled their eyes, most likely jealous they couldn't relate to the statement.
