Tiara watched as Jacob cooked, bagged, and sold cocaine to dozens of drug dealers that were running in and out of the abandoned house. Tiara stood against the wall as Jacob sold his last bag.
"I'll see you next time bro", Jacob said as he shot up from out his seat making his way out as Tiara followed.
"So you heard da conversation I had wit my mama?", Jacob asked counting his cash.
"Yeah, but if you need money Jakey all you had to do was ask me, you know my parents would love to help you out", Tiara said putting her hands in her pockets as they speed walked to Jacob's house.
Jacob shook his head as he put his money away.
"My Uncle always taught me ta make my own money, he tol' me to neva ask fo' shit."
"I'm your best friend, if you need anything just ask, you know I'll always come through for you", Tiara said as they approached his house.
"Thanks T, dats why one day I won't you ta have my kids", Jacob said catching Tiara off guard.
Beads of sweat began to form on the back of Jacob's neck as Tiara blushed glancing down at the ground.
He didn't mean to tell Tiara that, he was joking but it made him feel wrong, especially since she had a boyfriend now.
"So I guess I'll see ya later?", Jacob asked scratching the back of his head.
"Yeah...."
Jacob gave Tiara a heartfelt hug before she walked back home.
"I'm home!", Tiara chanted as she closed the front door to her house.
"Are you SURE that you're ready to tell Tiara about Shawn?", Tiara heard her mother say in the kitchen.
"No, it would destroy her and right now she doesn't need any destractions", Jarold said rubbing his temples.
Tiara quietly took her shoes off so her parents wouldn't here her walk against the hardwood floor. She eased closer to the kitchen as she heard papers shuffling.
"So when are we going to her about him, huh?", Rose asked in a concerned tone. "She'll find out eventually Jarold!"
"What Tiara doesn't know won't hurt her, she lasted this long without knowing."
Tiara had no clue what her parents were talking about, so she brushed it off and walked upstairs to shower.
But who was Shawn?
Shawn was Tiara's older brother.
Back in 1997...
Rose was only 15 years old when she found out she was pregnant with Shawn. She was so wild she had a hard time narrowing it down to who the father was. Her mother, which is Tiara's grandmother, Charlotte, had no idea because she was never around. She had to juggle three jobs to pay all the bills since Tiara's grandfather, Steve, died of a massive heart attack. Once Rose finally narrowed it down, she called up the father of her child, Mike, over to tell him. Young and nervous, the two sat in the living room waiting on the results from the pregnancy test.
"How you know it's mine anyways?", Mike snapped as he paced back and forth.
"Nigga we fuck all the damn time!", Rose shouted. "Yo dump ass should've used a condom!"
"Aye! I ALWAYS go in raw!", he barked.
The next few minutes were silent, Rose picked up the pregnancy test and a wave of anger washed over her.
Positive.
"Man, what the fuck we gone do?", Mike asked running his hands through his silky hair.
Rose shrugged slumping her shoulders as Mike shook his head.
"Get an abortion."
Rose shot up in anger, frantically pointing her finger in Mike's face.
"HELL NO! YOU ASS AIN'T GOTTA BE IN IT'S LIFE, BUT I'M NOT GIVING UP MY FIRST CHILD!", Rose snapped.
That's exactly what Mike did, after that day Rose never saw him again. She went through her first year of high school pregnant. Once she was seven months in, Rose always thought back on what Mike had said.
"Get an abortion."
Those words haunted her till the day it was time for Rose to give birth.
"Congratulations!", the doctor said handing her the small infant. "You have a beautiful baby boy!"
Charlotte didn't care about Rose or the fact that she was pregnant at all. Once Rose bought him home, she didn't have any supplies to take care of him at all, Charlotte didn't even give her any money for him. So Rose had no choice but to give him up for adoption. After going through all types of different families, Rose finally found a perfect family. It was a white Caucasian couple that had problems having children of their own.
"I've already thought of him a name", Rose said handing over her child.
"What did you have in mind?", the white man asked cradling the baby.
"Shawn."
And the name stuck ever since.
Two years later Rose had met Jarold, and that's when Tiara was born. Rose had skipped sophomore year because of her excellent grades so she was 17 her senior year. This time Rose was ready for a baby and dedicated her life to Tiara once she was born. Jarold ended up purposing to Rose once Tiara turned 3, around the same time they moved out to Chicago.
But what was Shawn doing now?
"Shawn McCoy does it again!", the news reporter said as Britney and her crew watched the television eagerly. "Shawn did an AMAZING performance at the Arie Crown Theater in Chicago last night! He was also nominated for an Young Artist Award, if he wins this one, that'll make a total of EIGHT awards over his four years of being in the industry."
The television then flashed to a clip of last nights performance. Shawn appeared dancing and hyping up the crowd with his smooth rhymes and dance moves.
"What will this talented young man do next?"
Shawn was now an A-List rapper.
