"i want to meet your parents" tony whispers randomly as we are watching a movie together in bed
                          
i pause the movie before turning to look at him 
                          
"why all of a sudden?" i ask, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion
                          
"we've been dating for almost a year now and i'm in love with you. i've been thinking about meeting your parents for a while now"
                          
i smile, leaning up to kiss him "they'll love you as much as i do"
                          
he smiles "i hope so"

"by the way" i start, holding tony's hand as we stand at the front door of my childhood home "they don't know i'm dating you. they just know i'm dating someone named tony"
                          
his eyes widen as i knock on the door
                          
my mom opens the door with a big smile on her face
                          
"hey baby" she exclaims, pulling me into a hug
                          
i laugh "hi mom"
                          
when she pulls away, she looks beside me
                          
her eyes widen as her mouth hangs open
                          
"mom, this is my boyfriend, tony- stark"
                          
he puts his hand out "nice to meet you, mrs. y/l/n"
                          
she shakes his hand still in shock
                          
we walk into the house as she goes to sit down on the couch
                          
after a few minutes, she stands up again, walking over to us
                          
"sorry, i was just- i was surprised is all" she says, calmly
                          
tony laughs "it's okay"
                          
my mom then busies herself in the kitchen, preparing dinner
                          
i take tony's hand, leading him to the living room where we sit on the couch 
                          
i curl into his side as he keeps his arm wrapped around me
                          
"i can't believe you didn't tell them about me"
                          
"i did, i just didn't include your last name"
                          
"you know what i mean"
                          
i pull away to look up at him "i didn't want them drawing conclusions from things that they read on the internet or heard on the news. i wanted them to actually meet you first"
                          
his face softens as he leans in to kiss my forehead
                          
"i'm sorry for getting upset. your heart was in the right place"
                          
i smile, leaning in to kiss his lips

when my dad gets home, tony jumps to his feet, walking over
                          
wanting to make a good impression
                          
"i'm tony stark, sir" he says, extending his hand
                          
my dad looks him over before shaking his hand "nice to meet you"
                          
tony smile "it's a pleasure to meet you"
                          
"dinner" my mom calls
                          
we all make our way to the small table with four chairs
                          
my dad sits to my left, my mom to my right, and tony across from me
                          
"so tony, are you treating my daughter right?" my dad asks
                          
"yes sir, i treat her like a princess"
                          
i smile, blushing
                          
"that's not what i meant. i'm not talking about your money"
                          
tony furrows his eyebrows "i wasn't talking about my money either"
                          
my dad nods, a small smile on his face
                          
"i think it's just amazing that you've found someone, honey" my mom says
                          
i smile, looking over at tony who's beaming widely at me
                          
"yes, it's amazing" i answer

after visiting my parents, i convince tony to let me drive, telling him i wanted to go somewhere else before heading home
                          
i park the car in the parking lot as i lead tony to our destination, a blindfold on his face
                          
"baby, where are we?" he asks as we stop
                          
i take off his blindfold and watch as his face falls
                          
"w-why would you bring me here?" he asks, quietly
                          
"so you can introduce me" i answer, holding his hand in mine
                          
a tear streams down his cheek as i reach up to wipe it away with my free hand
                          
he then turns to the two headstones "mom, dad, this is y/n. my girlfriend"
                          
i smile, leaning my head on tony's arm "it's an honor to meet you, mr. and mrs. stark. your son is an amazing man that i'm am deeply in love with"
                          
i look back up at tony after a few minutes, seeing tears streaming down his face
                          
i wipe them away "baby, don't cry"
                          
he smile "they're happy tears"
                          
i smile, leaning up to connect our lips
