I was at work busy with the papers Owen gave to me to check. I wasn't paying much attention to my work to be honest. I stared at my phone, hoping Jamie will call or message me or something. But nothing happens.
I put my phone down and continued with my work.
Owen comes into my office while I'm busy.
"Hi Elena. How far are you with the papers?"
"Busy with the second one."
"Oh. I thought you would be further than that by now."
"I'm sorry. My attention is not here 100%."
"Everything okay?"
"No... Jamie hasn't been home much. He either doesn't come home or he comes home late and looking like a mess. I don't get much sleep in because I'm worried about him. And when I ask him what is going on. He snaps at me. It's been going on for weeks now and I don't know what to do. I'm sorry Owen I know I'v been slagging at work."
Owen walks to my desk and he takes the papers from my desk. I look up at him.
"Take some time off. I'll give it to the other ladies to take care of. Go sort out your things at home."
"I don't mind working."
"Go. You need some time so take some time off."
I took my things and get up.
"Thank you Owen."
"Come back when you are ready to. Just let me know."
I nod and slightly smiled at him and I took my things and left.
I took out my phone and called Amber.
"Hi." she answered.
"Hey. Do you mind bringing the kids home after school? Owen gave me some time off."
"I don't mind."
"Thanks Amber."
"No problem. See you later."
"Bye." I hanged up and tried calling Jamie again.
"Hi. This is Jamie. I'm not available at the moment. Leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as possible."
"Baby. Please just call me and let me know you're okay. I'm really worried about you." I hanged up and get in the car.
I sighed and the tears comes to my eyes.
I sat in the car for a while. I took a deep breathe and wiped the tears away.
