Athena found herself pacing in the classroom as pain shot through her body. She huffed a lot and students tried to avoid asking questions. The only sounds that could be heard were the steady steps as well as huffing and the scratching of quills against parchment. "You may leave," Severus shouted and the young students followed his command. The day had finally finished and she felt ready to cry from joy.
"It hurts," She muttered as Severus watched from a distance.
"What hurts?" She felt he was utterly stupid and he also realised the useless remark. Minerva had entered and smiled at the two.
"My dear, are you quite all right?" Her Scottish tone was worrying and Athena felt her mentality slip.
"It just hurts." Minerva smiled warmly.
"It is your due date." A nod was made but no dots were connected as the pain kept her distracted. Not for long as a sudden flow of liquid splashed to the girl's feet and pain shot through her.
"Severus, you are the worst. We are never even kissing again." Humour was found by the others. "No, Severus you can't come with me. I want Minerva." Severus looked furious. "You can visit afterwards but your entire being irritates me when you act like my pain is just basic-bitch pain. Besides, you aren't great at comforting a person." He nodded and cleaned her waters from the floor. The two women walked to the fireplace in the infirmary. "Poppy, sorry, just need to get to St Mungo's." The woman rushed and handed them powder. Athena went first and then Minerva. The entire thing wasn't a blur but a prolonged suffering as pain swirled deep in her body. "Bloody MEN!" She squealed as she felt a strong push on her entire body.
"Baby boy." Was cast through the room as the small being was laid on the chest of the witch.
"Minerva, a baby!" She sounded like a two-year-old but it didn't matter. Her baby was finally there. "I have lost my lunch table." A laugh resonated from those in the room as Athina has used the pregnant belly as a shelf. Minerva kissed the top of the girl's head and stroked the golden hair.
"You look like you have just been for a gentle jog." Athena rolled her head back onto the pillow.
"Not quite. A 37-hour labour though." Her face was slightly crimson with some sweat but it was better than both expected. The baby was brought back to Athena and she held the boy. "I will love him forever." A small kiss was placed on his head as she held him close. "Right. Clothes." A bag was lifted and a pure white all in one was placed on his body. The white had cartoon images of foxes and mountains whilst the edges of the material were a light blue or green. His hat matched and Athena felt her insides melt for the small boy.
Her eyes were less heavy as she woke from her sleep and saw an also sleeping Minerva in the chair next to her and a sleeping boy in the bed not far from her. The small being was lifted and cuddled close to her chest. Her eyes were stinging as they dried. A healer walked in and saw the sight. "I have done this before. Even if you blink they are still there." Athena didn't look up but laughed and blinked.
"He is so little. What if I break him?" A chuckle was sounded as she checked over the two.
"They are fragile but judging by what I have seen so far you won't break him." The healer left but it wasn't noticed. Not long after the small baby started crying and so she started feeding him. She had done it before but still, obstacles had to be faced. Minerva had woken at the sound and watched as the young girl had the blanket covering her upper body.
"I think I am ready to leave." Minerva nodded and stood up. Athena finished not long after and so stood with her partner. They travelled through to the fireplace and found themselves in the infirmary again.
