More than a year has passed since my father got me a tutor. It's truly great that he suggested it himself. At first I only 'learned' how to read with mother, it only took few days so disregarding mom's protests about postponing it some more, I started getting tutored by the main butler soon after. During the two weeks interval while me and father convinced mother to let me start the tuition I often visited the library, now openly. Maids even prepared a small reading supplies for me, like a blanket to lay out on the floor and some healthy snacks, now I could even ask them to hand me one of the books on higher setpoints.
Probably because of seeing how much I liked to study, mother let me do as I wanted and I started lessons on math and writing first. I knew how to write but it would take some time for me to be able to teach my body how to move. Even if the brain understands how you need to move, it's not so easy to have the body execute it properly, it's kind of like trying to write with your non-dominant hand. You know how you need to trace it but your coordination is disrupted. As for math, my tutor could only teach up to level necessary to go through scholar's examination, which was kind of disappointing to me since it was only around high school level in my past world.
It certainly shocked them when I swept through math within two weeks, so soon enough Sedric suggested to substitute it with something else, without much hesitation I asked to substitute it with history and languages of other kingdoms, Sedric only knew some elvish at quite a high level so it was decided that they would start with that.
History lessons didn't end up being much trouble either as I have a good memory, but the material was massive and I also want to properly analyze everything rather than simply memorizing, so it ended up being a great choice for not making my tutor even more speechless. From what I have learned so far this world is a typical fantasy world that anyone could imagine.
The kingdom I live in right now is on the western side of the continent near the Manzoram forest. The forest is huge and it's filled with monsters. There have been many times throughout the history when a huge group of creatures attacked from there, at that time kingdoms that are on the west side of the continent made an alliance to defend and survive. It was the only alliance Rosette kingdom was a part of.
Aside from Rosette kingdom, the only human kingdom on this continent the alliance has three other members: the elf kingdom 'Saranghyan', the dwarf kingdom 'Golnum' and the beastman kingdom 'Tyrifon'. There were also other kingdoms and areas on this continent but we had yet to reach that part so although I have read briefly about them, I was still clueless. As of now, I only had tuitions for two hours a day, about the same as a first grader in my world would in an elementary school, but I only went through three subjects: writing, history and elvish.
Since I now had a tutor, I could get information much easier than before, so soon I found out how to awaken. It seems like special items are needed for it, for nobles it's not a big deal but commoners usually get them from school after testing if they're suited to be a mage. There's two items: A magic crystal and a magic sphere. The sphere is what maintains your mana and pretty much makes sure you don't explode at the sudden abundance of power entering your body, the crystal is gained from mining a special recourse, something like a mana stone but much clearer and more condensed, people believe that only those who are about to awaken can use them so it's not an awfully expensive recourse.
Someone needs to be close and guide the energy of the sphere to protect the body so the awakening is usually held with a mage around. I have already asked my father when I could awaken, he said that people usually do that at age of 4 or older due to insufficient mana as well as lack of physique, if the body is too weak it won't be able to handle the burden. (I suddenly found myself switching to this without realizing so)
