I swung my bat over my shoulder and placed it against the bricks stacked up on the side. Donnie had managed to convince me to come with him on his search for military parts for one of his neatest intentions. I wasn't sure what the heck he was talking about, but decided to come along anyways because I had nothing better to do."What is it we're looking for again?"
Donnie sighed. He explained it at least one hundred times. "Just look for something that looks like a plate, it should be green but it could be black."
I look around, joining him before crossing over the huge pile of garbage. When I got on the top of the pile, I fell down to the other side. Donnie heard my tumbling and surprised yelp, quickly stopping his searching.
"(Y/n), are you alright?!"
I pushed myself to sit up and check over my arms and legs. "Yeah! I just needed a quicker way down!" I stand back onto my feet, dusting off.
Something to my right caught my attention. I slowly looked up and walked over, pulling grimy old newspapers out of the way of my target. I stuck my hand down and pulled the object from the rubble.
It was an old teddy bear. One that looked much like what I had as a child, the same one that I currently had stuffed away under my bed floorboard. Tommy was the only one who knew about him, but from the way the twins acted, I suspected they've seen me sleep with it before. They never mentioned it, so we never fought over it, just like I never mentioned their weak spots. The bear was smaller, brown fur dirty and matted. I slowly turned it over in my hands. It's black eyes stared into mine. Somewhere, my heart felt heavy... almost as if someone were tugging on it. My throat grew tight. I could feel the memories burning like a fire in my brain.
I heard a few footsteps, and knowing that someone was behind me, I gasped and quickly turned around with the stuffed animal behind my back. Donnie gave me a weird look.
"Whatcha got there?" He tried to look past me, making me turn red in embarrassment. How long had he been there? He hadn't seen it, or did he?
"Nothing."
Donnie raised one end of his mask, too unconvinced to pretend otherwise, so I gave him a hard look and raised my own eyebrow to mock him. He peered over my shoulder again, moving closer only for me to move backwards. A smirk came to his lips and I looked away for a moment, only to realize my hands were empty. I quickly pulled them up to look at them, then glared at Donnie who held the teddy bear. He grinned as he looked it over.
"Does the big and tough (y/n) have a soft spot after all?" I growled at the teasing tone he gave me.
"Stop it Donnie! Give it back!" I reach out, barely touching the soft fur before it was pulled away.
"Ah, ah! Say it! You're actually a big softie!"
"Donnie I'm about to pound you into a pancake!" I growled and clenched my fists. This is so embarrassing!
"You're blushing!"
"That's it!!" I jumped and started chasing Donnie over the garbage pile. "Donnie!"
But he was already ahead of me, laughing as he ran. "Aw, it's okay, (y/n)! It's always the tough ones that are soft! It's actually really cute!" He looked over his shoulder, his laugh turning into a scream as I tackled him to the ground.
"It's for my sister."
"Sure it is."
"Donnie!"
