The eighteenth of November 1994
From Makaela's perspective
The following morning, I had breakfast with my big cousin Angel, my aunt Jacky, Twinkie, and Karen to have an amazing day together. I want to spend as much time as possible with my kind of family because they are so devoted and kind. In forty-five minutes, when my aunt Karen pulled into the driveway, Kai's car was the only one home, and I was back where I really didn't want to be. After giving my aunt a final hug and kiss, I entered the house and went to my room, where I discovered my younger sister moaning and fucking her boyfriend. I quickly closed the door, went downstairs, and sat down on the couch before heading back outside. Callie, Sasha, Kayah, and Nikki enter.
"Where is Kai?" I was asked by Nikki.
I questioned her, "Are you talking to me?
"With an unpleasant tone," Kayah asked, "Are you fucking stupid? Of course she's talking to you."
That's inappropriate," Callie remarked. Trenton and Kai had already come downstairs by then. Without saying hello or goodbye, Trenton left the house, and Kai took a seat on 'the couch next to me.
Sasha remarked, "You know if Uncle Kenny looks at the camera and sees Trenton, he will beat you're behind."
I questioned Kai, "Where did they go?"
Kai replied. "A couple retreats, and they can't have phones, so we can do what we want," she said, glancing at me.
"We need to look nice tomorrow, and when will they be back?" Callie remarked.
"Next Tuesday?" Glancing at Kai , I asked.
"We always look our best," Kai informed me.
Kayah pointed at me and stated, "She ain't riding with us." Everyone gazed at her, including me.
Alright. You're able to walk," Nikki remarked. Kai rolled her eyes and scowled. Callie urged Kai and me to go and get dressed, so we hurried upstairs to do so.
Ten minutes later
"Kai, damn hurry up." Sasha yells out.
"Gimme a minute. "I just gotta put on my makeup," I yelled from the bathroom.
"You are going to have a lot of fun," Kai said as I was coming out of the bathroom.
I'm ready now." I said. We grabbed our bag and threw it over our shoulders. I put my pager in my back pocket.
"Can we go now?" Kai asked I made my way towards the door and she followed me, and she closed the door. We all walked through the door and got into the family car, Nikki and Kayah got in the front. Callie and Sasha got in the middle. Me and Kai got in the back, and Nikki drove off. After exiting the car, we began to make our way towards the mall. When Sasha and Kai began arguing over which store to visit first, Nikki suggested that we head to Rainbow to avoid the chaos that was developing between them. There were several people inside when we first entered. We strolled over to Rainbow, where there was an abundance of goods that I was eager to explore. As soon as we arrived, Sasha found her the loveliest outfit.
"Boo, you ain't lying because we know our family gets down," Kayah replied.
"Yall are going to be the hottest, but I'm going to be the baddest with this mini dress on and some heels." Kai dances in front of the mirror, sticking her tongue out.
Callie winked at us, saying, "I hate to break your heart, little cousins, but big cousins are taking the baddest award."
"You do look hot in that, and I think you should get it," Nikki said to Callie.
