XVIII. Movie Night

Start from the beginning

"So what are we talking about?" Lindsey asked as he took a seat.

"Baby," Lucy answered bluntly.

"Yes, when are you due again?" Stevie replied as she placed a large amount of spaghetti in front of her girl.

"I was told late December or early January," she stated as she twirled pasta on her fork.

"Oh, this is going to be so exciting!" Stevie beamed as she handed Lindsey his food. "How far are you, baby?"

"Um, we got married on the twentieth... today is July twenty-ninth... like three months and a week," she said.

"Your math is as good as your mother's," Lindsey remarked at how much time it took her to get the very simple answer.

Stevie swatted him with the stack of napkins that came with the food.

"You act like it was a surprise," he rose a brow.

She kind of shrugged.

"You guys are cute," Lucy kind of laughed.

"We're a hoot," Stevie said sarcastically. She then seated herself and began eating.

Lindsey rolled his eyes at his wife playfully. "Anyway, did you pick a movie?" he asked.

"Mhmm," Lucy nodded as she slurped a noodle between her lips. "We're gonna see Mamma Mia and I think you'll like it."

"What's it about?" he asked.

"Not sure, just know Meryl Streep is in it and Pierce Brosnan and some other actors I like," she responded.

"Oh! I love Pierce Brosnan. He's a hottie," Stevie replied, happily with a smile.

Lucy nodded with a smile as she abided.

Lindsey kind of shook his head as his eyes averted to his food.

"What?" Stevie smirked. "Ya jealous...?" she pried.

"Nope 'cause I know you don't gotta chance," he responded.

Stevie scoffed and almost choked on her iced tea. "What makes you think, I don't?" she looked at him.

"Because, I wouldn't ever allow you near him. He'd try to pick you up in a second," he winked at her. He turned it around easily so he wouldn't get his feelings hurt. He knew she'd abide by herself and say, that she would take Pierce over him even though, she knew she couldn't ever.

"Nice save, Buck," she put her hand over his. She looked at him lovingly as he kissed her hand. She absolutely adored the man she had loved all of her life.

"I thought so," he smirked with a light wink.

Lucy just smiled and continued. She knew her dad could be bad and just try his best to annoy her mom. Though the banter was the best thing between the two. It was always something she wanted recorded or to always remember. Her parents had a very dry sense of humor so they could be ornery to one another, back and forth and it was just fun to watch. Everybody always knew they were kidding and they loved each other.

"What time does the movie start?" Lindsey asked.

"Ten fifteen," Lucy answered.

"Once we're done, we should get going," he added.

The family of three finished up their dinner and soon after, they were piling into the car. Lindsey drove while both girls talked about random things the whole drive.

It was so nonstop that Lindsey swore they would talk him into a coma, but he did enjoy it. He enjoyed the close bond his daughter and wife had obviously shared for two decades. He was so in love with his girls and the idea of a family, his own family that he never thought he'd get with Stevie. He loved her dearly and even though, he got his family late, he didn't care. He was just happy to be apart of it all.

Once they arrived at the theatre, they got their tickets and they were just going to get some candy since they'd filled up on dinner.

Stevie and Lindsey watched their daughter go wild with the sweets and they kind of laughed because, she was just like a kid. They did however tell her, she needed to cool it. They didn't want her to get sick because, that would also ultimately be bad for the baby.

They went in to see their film and the girls were immediately taken by all the music. Lindsey liked the music as well, he never knew there were that many ABBA songs. They all enjoyed the film and Lucy and Lindsey kind of laughed because the film was based off of the daughter not knowing who her father was. Stevie kind of laughed at the fact that she felt she was in Donna's place. But overall the film was a hit and the music was right in their alley.

By the time they were coming home, the girls and Lindsey had "Dancing Queen" stuck in their heads and Lindsey wasn't too pleased. He couldn't deny it was a good song, but the girls were over exerting his patience level. He just let it roll over like nothing and he laughed at how vocal his girls were. He couldn't help but think they were on some sort of sugar high. With all the stuff Lucy got and Stevie drinking a diet soda, he was sure he was doomed.

When they get home, Stevie and Lucy are giggling and stumbling as if they were drunk, even though Lindsey knew it wasn't possible. He just let it go and he was glad to see they were all having a good time on their daughter's first day home.

They---as a family, knew it would get hectic in the later months since Lucy would be carrying the weight of a growing baby in her belly. They were aware that they had to be prepared and they were aware that it was going to be a struggle. No matter how fun it was to have a baby in the house, it was hard. That was a reason for Stevie and Lindsey wanting to be stay at home grandparents, in the first months. They wanted to make sure their baby was okay to raise her baby with Elijah.

Disclaimer! I'm verifying that when I did this story, it was on my own terms and I had never seen the film Mamma Mia. I only seen the movie like a month or two ago and this story has been on since way before that obviously. So I am just saying it was never intended to look copied or anything. It was my own thought since I never had my dad in the picture. Though for me, I know of him and who he is, but I've yet to meet him. Therefore, I thought to add Mamma Mia to this would be cute. I do, now love the film and this is for entertainment.

Sorry for any unprofessional errors.

Hope you like what is to come :)
