Song: Plainsong by The Cure (Disclaimer: I don't own this song, but I do think it's a good rainy day song!)

The next afternoon, Mikey sat next to his bedroom window, watching beads of rain glide sluggishly down the glass. It rarely rained during the summer, but Mikey didn't mind it much. He'd always loved the rain, and just staying inside with his headphones on while watching it fall.

'You're the closest to Heaven that I'll ever be-'.

His mind was elsewhere, thinking of Pete.

Is he gonna call? Yes. But when? Soon. When?

"Hey, Mikey!". Gerard's voice pierced Mikey's thoughts.

Mikey looked up, startled, and slid his headphones off. "Hmm?".

"I'm going with over to Frank's later. Do you want to come with?" Gerard asked.

"N-nah, I'm alright," Mikey replied, glancing down at his phone, which remained silent. "P-Pete's gonna call me later, s-so I'll just stay here". Gerard smirked, but stayed quiet and nodded briefly before slipping down the hallway.

Mikey stayed by the window for another half an hour, listening to . Then, he heard his phone ring, and he picked it up excitedly.

"Hey".

"Pete! H-hi," Mikey answered, heat rising in his cheeks.

"Can you come outside?".

"What?".

"Just for a second?".

"O-okay". Mikey hung up and hurried downstairs and out the front door.

A pale grey-brown sky loomed overhead, pierced by small burat of reluctant sunlight. The warm summer rain pounded down on the asphalt and ran to the gutter in murky streaks.

Of course, Pete was standing in the middle of the street, wearing just a T-shirt and his ripped up jeans.

"Pete!" Mikey called out, running into the street."Hey-".

Pete suddenly pulled Mikey into his arms and hugged him tightly.

Well, this is unexpected.

"Uh, P-Pete. What are you d-doing?" Mikey asked, gingerly patting the back of Pete's drenched T-shirt.

Hug him back.

What? No!

Yes!

Pete pulled away, obviously blushing but still smirking. "C'mon, Mikey. Is it weird for me to miss my favorite dude after ten hours?" he replied.

"It's only w-weird when you stand out in the r-rain instead of knocking on the door like a normal p-person," Mikey shrugged, averting his gaze from Pete's sparkling brown eyes. "Dork".
