"Okay—did you say she?" She grinned, crossing her arms and I rolled my eyes. Oh no. My mom catches every detail that comes out of my mouth and puts the pieces together. No matter how much I stutter or how nonsense it is, she figures it out. I haven't dated many people, only two, but a good amount of dates that didn't work out she still wanted to know everything. "What's her name? What does she look like? Is she pretty? Wait, how did you meet her, you were in the hospital for a month?"
"Mom, it's not a date."
"Tell me! Come on, I'm your mother! I spent five hours of my life to give you life, you can at least tell me the name of the girl you're meeting"
I groaned. Not the 'I was in labor for hours with you' card. She always pulls that card when she wants to know anything from me or Jack. She knows it make us feel kind of bad, and I hate to say it but it works every time and today is no different.
"Mila—well, I call her that— her full name is Jamila." I cave and then watch as my mother nods and then shoo's me out of the kitchen.
"Alright, go, out out out, I need to make dinner, and be back for six or no veal parmesan for you." She pushed me toward the door, opening it for me and then gesturing for me to leave. I scoffed and pretended to me hurt. "I don't have all day, Georgie, out."
"My own mother, my mother who spent five hours in labor to give—" She shut the door as soon as I stepped out of the way, gaping I stood staring at the door.
"Do not use my own method of persuasion back at me! Go meet your girlfriend already!" I heard from the other side of the door. I swear my jaw touched the floor. Did really just slam the door in my face? And call Mila my girlfriend? I mean she's just a friend, who I've kissed, a few times, and who I have an attraction for...
I started my car, my moms words still repeating in my head. Girlfriend? Isn't it too soon? I mean I just broke up with Genevieve, it's only been two months since I've met Mila.
But I really like her. A lot.
Turning the radio on in the car I focused on the road heading to Starbucks. It was only a few minutes drive, short but long enough to get lost in your thoughts. I had a lot of thoughts, for instance, why is this weirdo so close behind me? I saw an intersection coming up, the lights turning red, and I slowly came to a stop, the driver behind me ramming into my bumper.
The person hopped out quickly, as I sighed and quickly went to check if there was any damage.
"George?"
I froze, is this really happening rights now? I was so ready to move on and here she is, standing in front of me wearing... sweatpants and a sweater. I cleared my throat and she looked down at the gravel. It all happened in seconds, but it felt so so much longer.
I cleared my throat again and then walked over the the rear of my car. It looked fine.
"Sorry, the light– it um—"
"It's okay." I say awkwardly, double checking my car. Well, my mom's car. We stood there, then cars started moving and the light had turned green again. I turned away from her, hopping back into my car and continuing my way.
Arriving at Starbucks, I walked in and scanned the room. I could see her in the back, her peach hair tucked behind her ears, her hands wrapped around a cup of coffee, I assume, staring out of the window.
I smiled and walked over, her head turning, and she smiled wide, greeting me. I sat down and smiled back unable to say anything. It wasn't awkward like it was with Genevieve, I was at ease, I felt comfortable just in her presence.
"Hey, George," she said softly.
"Hey, Mila,"

WE TALKED for nearly three hours.
Exiting Starbucks we walked side by side towards the parking lot, a comfortable silence falling between us again. She had a smile playing on her lips.
Fuck her lips.
They looked soft, but chapped as she licked them. Damn.
"So, I broke up with Genevieve." I blurted, uncontrollably. She whipped her head up to look at me, her eyes wide. "She tried to apologize after she confessed to cheating on me."
She scoffed, shaking her head and coming to a stop. I stopped in front of her still gazing on her lips. She pulled out a set of keys and pointed behind her to a small blue car.
"This is mine," she mumbled, as if she didn't want to leave. We stood there, I didn't want to leave either. "I should, um, go home, my mom is waiting for me for dinner."
"Uh, yeah, yeah, me too," I gulped as we locked eyes again, not before I saw her eyes flicker to my own lips. Oh god. I leaned forward a little, saying my thoughts out loud. "I don't really want to go."
She shook her head. "Me neither."
It was silent again, tension in our midst, our eyes locking with each others and then to our lips constantly.
"So what does that mean?" she said, biting her lower lip. I flicked my ring with my tongue, she did that on purpose. She looked down for a second before looking at me again. "You broke up with her. You're single?"
Without thinking, I shook my head. She frowned.
"Fuck no," I grumbled as I grabbed the back of her neck, slamming my lips on hers.
Her keys fell to the floor as her hands flew to my hair, her fingers running through it, tugging slightly. It made me groan into her lips as she kissed me back forcefully.
I backed her against her own car, my hands moving from her face to her hips, bring her close to me. She gasped allowing me to break from her mouth and pepper fiery kisses across her jaw and down her neck. She tilted her head back, exposing her neck to me more.
I reached a certain spot and started sucking hard, determined to leave a mark.
"George..." she let out, trying to stop me but not really wanting me to stop. "You can't give me a hickey, my dad, he—" she stopped moaning as I bit her neck softly.
"Mhm, I don't care," I mumble into her neck kissing my way back up to her lips, but not before admiring the large purple hickey I made on her neck. We starred into each others eyes before reconnecting out lips in a calmer, much slower kiss than before.
"Be my girlfriend, Mila." I whisper, leaning my forehead on hers. "I know it's weird, seeing as I just got out of a relationship—"
She cut me off, placing her, now swollen and even more chapped, lips on mine once more.
"Yes."
