~~ Becca’s P.O.V ~~
Rin, Holly and I walked towards the lake near the park Liam said we should go to. All of us were singing ‘Both of Us’ by Taylor Swift. Our harmonizing was pretty good if you ask me.
“So Becca,” Rin turned towards me and continued “What was it like growing up in Australia? I mean, is it different here?” She asked and I sighed and sat down in front of the lake we just arrived at. Rin came and sat next to me almost immediately, as did Holly.
“Well, back in Australia… Things weren’t always the best.” I breathed in. “Well, when I was 13, my brother, Josh, Found out that… he was gay. And my parents, well they didn’t exactly take it so well… They kicked us both out. So we moved here to England and now I live with my Aunty and Uncle, but we call them mum and dad, because that’s basically who they are now…”
I’ve told this story so many times, it doesn’t really get to me that much anymore. It still hurts though. A lot. Suddenly Holly’s phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and her eyes widened. “Sorry guys, I have to take this!” She smiled and ran off further into the trees that crowded around the lake.
Rin looked and me and said “Okay Bec, I may not have known you for that long but I can tell there is more to the story than what you just said…” She trailed off and looked out into the lake.
I sighed and looked at her. I may have known her for a short time, but I know that I do really, really like her. And not just in a friendly way…
“Rinny, I trust you enough to tell you this, but you have to promise me that you will keep this a secret, okay?” She flushed slightly at me calling her Rinny, but nodded and held up her pinkie. I giggled but wrapped my finger around hers. I let go and started to speak.
“Well when I was younger… and in Australia, I used to be overweight. And I used to get bullied. A lot… So I wanted to put a stop to it and… I started skipping meals to get thinner. Next thing I knew it wasn’t just one or two meals, but I was basically skipping everything. I like shut down and stopped doing anything. Then one day… I went to the hospital because… well I fainted during school. Doctors said it was really unhealthy for me to keep skipping meals, and they made me eat. I did loose a lot of weight though, but I am happy I put a few kilos back on. I mean I am happy I didn’t put it all back on but you know… and then I went back to school….” I sighed in a shaky breath
