Audrey's POV
I unattached my ankle strap and walked up the beach with my board under my arm, I decided to sit down on the sand and watch the others catch come waves. I set my board down and I just sat down in the sand, it was peaceful.
"I'm starting to think there's nothing you can't do" I heard someone behind me, I turned around to Mouse standing there. He walked up beside me and sat down, I was keeping calm on the outside by watching the others surfing but on the inside I was so freaking nervous.
"Well the way I think about is as long as you're carefree, there's nothing you can't do" I laughed, I watched as my dad chickened out getting a wave. "But I'll definitely stick to soccer because that's what I know best, but any day to get under my dad's skin I'll take it" I smiled.
"Yea he didn't look too happy" he laughed, I know I've said this before but his laugh is absolutely adorable.
"Well I did tell him that there were some ankle peelers he could catch" the both of us shared a laugh, I ran my hand through my hair getting it out of my face.
"You're definitely Reidy's daughter" he smiled, I felt like I was staring so I glued my eyes to the water, I didn't want him thinking I'm some psycho but I'm sure I crossed that line when I punched someone in the face. But in my defense, well it was self defense.
"So I heard that the guys call you the black cloud, what does that mean?" I asked, he rolled his eyes and sighed
"Some of the guys think that when I'm rostered there is bound to have bad things to happen, which I think is absurd" he laughed
"You know I was considered the bad luck charm for the United States team, I've missed every penalty kick I've ever taken but I guess I make up for saving them, also I'm pretty accident prone for others" I smiled trying to make him feel better "but I think I like the name black cloud better than Accident Audrey"
"Oi I thought the black cloud was bad" he laughed, I rolled my eyes
"I just hope I don't carry my bad luck over to this team because everyone already hates me" I sighed drawing shapes into the sand
"They're probably just jealous of how great you are" I looked to him and he giving me a comforting smile, I smiled back
"Thanks, that means a lot to hear you say that" I felt my cheeks getting warm, thankfully for me he was called over the radio.
"Bondi Central to Mouse, we've got a report of a head injury in the skate bowl can you meet me up there" I could easily tell that was Yatesy, he got up and took his radio off his belt
"Copy Bondi central" he placed his walkie back onto his belt and sighed "Duty calls, I guess I'll see you later" I waved goodbye as he jogged up the ramp that was behind us, I faced the water and that's when I noticed my dad had gotten out, he was staring at me with a grin.
"What?" I asked getting up, I picked up my board and we headed back for the tower
"You fancy Mouse aye?" he asked laughing, he placed the rescue board down and grabbed my board to wash it off
"What are you talking about?" I laughed nervously, he washed my board off and placed it up to dry
"Oh come on kiddo, I saw the way you were looking at him" he rolled his eyes
"I can't look at people and be genuinely happy?" I asked
"You know what I mean Rey" he put his arm around my shoulder and we headed up to the tower, it was just Nicola in there. But damn, Dad hasn't called me Rey since I was like ten! My dad went ahead and went back down to help the others with their boards, I grabbed my clothes slipping my shorts on.
