Clear Our Names

                                    

                                          
     "You all KILLED someone?!", JB asked, obviously nervous and curious as to what her older brother and his fiancé had been up to. 
     "No, JB, we witnessed it.", Jughead explained as he heard a knock on the door. He went to open it and there stood Sheriff Keller. 
     "I'm going to have to question you both. Miss, please clear the room.", the sheriff said, directing the last part at Jellybean. Jellybean left to go to school and Jughead, Betty, and Sheriff Keller were left alone in the room. 
     "So, did you all witness the murder of Chuck Clayton?", Keller asked in a stern voice. 
     "Yes, sir.", Betty replied. 
     "Did you all kill him?"
     "No. It was Archie Andrews.", Jughead said. Betty looked at him in shock at the fact that he had just told the sheriff the truth about their friend. 
     "What happened?", Sheriff Keller asked.
      Jughead spoke up. "Some bulldogs were calling Betty a serpent slut, since she is engaged to me and pregnant with my baby. Archie has recently been trying to make up with Betty and get her back from me, so he stabbed Chuck trying to do something heroic for her. Then, people started blaming Chuck being stabbed on Betty and I for having a 'crazy friend' and being 'serpent sluts' and one pulled out a knife on us. So, having to keep Betty and the baby safe, I brought us back to the trailer." 
     "I think you all sound like you're telling the truth, because some of my other suspects told very similar stories..... What did Archie do? I mean, once he stabbed Chuck?"
     "He left in a hurry.", Betty answered. "No one even got to talk to him." Betty and Jughead knew that Archie was in a world of trouble.
     "Well, you all are off the hook. I might have to use you all for witnesses, though. I'm off to question Archie.", the sheriff said before walking out the door.
     "Betty, we're going to be late for school. Hop on the motorcycle, it'll drive us faster.", Jughead said, prompting Betty to hurry out of the door. 
      When the couple hurried into school, Reggie spotted them and yelled, "Hey there, serpent sluts! I heard you MURDERED Chuck!"
     He sounded VERY drunk. But before Jughead and Betty could move past him, he pulled up a gun and fired a shot. Jughead fell to the ground and Betty fainted.
     The next time Betty woke up, they were both lying in hospital beds.
