15th of July 2018 - The day everybody had been waiting for, the day that could become the worst or the best day ever, the day that would decide which team was the best; the World Cup final - France vs. Croatia.

Although she wasn't one of the men who would have to give their all on the pitch later, Y/N was already overcome by emotions and not all of them were positive. Among pride, hope and happiness, she also felt the nervousness increasing with every second that that passed by, but that wasn't the worst; the worst was the fear.

The thought that France could loose had caused her many sleepless nights and she knew her heart would break if that really happened, not because she had always dreamt of seeing them become world champions - she wasn't even french after all -, but because of the one man that meant the most to her in the world; Antoine Griezmann.

Y/N knew that he would do absolutely everything to win the final and that he wanted it more than anything else; it was his dream, a dream that would either come true or fail today.

No matter what, Y/N was more than proud of everything her boyfriend had achieved, but she was sure that he wouldn't feel the same way after a lost final.

The memories of the final of the European Championship two years ago crossed Y/N's mind, causing a frown to appear on her face. Never before had she seen Antoine as hopeless and as broken as after France had lost against Portugal.

Although she had tried to cheer him up and told him multiple times that he could still be proud of himself and that he'd have other chances to win, Antoine hadn't smiled for days, the pain ever prominent on his face.

Only with patience and all the support and love she had left to give, Y/N managed to help him with becoming his old cheerful and happy self again. Thanks to her, he had started to believe in himself again and that was one of the many reasons for his love for her as Antoine never got tired of saying.

Shaking her head, Y/N pulled herself out of her thoughts and took a deep breath, while smoothing out the blue jersey she was wearing with the number 7 on its back.

"Are you alright, mon ange?" She suddenly heard someone say behind her and immediately turned around to see Antoine standing in front of her, his eyes full of worry as he took her shaking hand into his.

Y/N quickly nodded, a smile finally visible on her lips, while her eyes were glistening with tears. "I'm so proud of you, Antoine, I hope you know that."

Looking into his girlfriend's breathtaking y/e/c eyes, the Frenchman couldn't stop himself from placing one hand on her cheek and one arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him before closing the remaining distance by kissing her.

"Je t'aime, Y/N," He breathed out after they broke apart, lovingly staring into her eyes, "I can never thank you enough for everything you've done for me and for your never-ending support. I wouldn't even have dreamt of playing in the final today if you hadn't believed in me."

Antoine's words caused the tears to run down his girlfriend's cheeks, but he softly wiped them away before placing his lips on hers once again.

"I have to leave now, but you'll come see me before the match starts, won't you?"

"Of course, someone has to be there to wish you good luck after all."

"I don't need anymore luck if my good luck charm is with me."

The footballer winked at Y/N, causing her to roll her eyes as she watched him leaving their hotel room to meet up with his teammates.

"Only a few more hours," She quietly told herself, sighing deeply, while she sat down on the bed, trying to sort out her thoughts.
