Faye Dawson
"We're going to be late!" Mum yelled from downstairs and I quickly finished my makeup and threw on my red graduation dress. It was a knee length long sleeved red dress similar to my prom dress but shorter. I had straightened my hair and done natural looking makeup. I rushed out of the house where my mum held a pair of black flats.
I slipped them on and we ran out of the house into the car. "Are you nervous?" She asked and I shrugged.
"No. Not really. Have you heard from Linda or Thomas?" I asked and she sighed shaking her head.
"I know they were busy. I'm not sure if they'll be here honey" Mum said and I felt my heart break a little. They promised. Me and Shawn had been better since our argument and he'd taken me out as an apology.
We had planned that Shawn would take me out the day after my birthday for dinner.
"How's Shawn?" Mum asked and I shrugged
"He's good but we both know it's going to be awkward today because obviously i can't spend time with him"
"Just try to enjoy it sweetheart" Mum said pulling into school.
"I won't if Thomas isn't here" I sighed and she rubbed my shoulder.

I walked into the school hall and left my Mum to go and sit in my assigned seat. The speeches from most of the teachers dragged on so long I couldn't bare to pay attention by the end of it. Until it was Shawn's turn.
"I'm a new teacher here at this school. But having taught many of these students has been a pleasure. I only hope that all their complaints have at least gotten them good grades" Shawn smiled earning laughs amongst everyone. "Some students have left more memories than others and I'm so glad to have been able to guide these students through their last year and to have met such wonderful people. Thank you and congratulations" Shawn finished and I gave him a small clap and smile as we walked off of the stage in his suit.

Thomas wasn't here as far as I could see but Shawn gave me a small smile and I pushed the thoughts away as I collected my certificates and took a picture with my headmaster. I waited for everyone to get their pieces of paper and our class was pronounced as graduated from school.
"I'm so proud of you" Mum said giving me a hug but it didn't feel normal without Thomas. We should be doing this together. "Shawn!" Mum called and i cringed as Shawn excused himself politely from his conversation and came over.
"Hello Miss Dawson" he said and Mum shook his hand.
"It's so nice to meet you as her boyfriend not just her teacher" Mum whispered and I rolled my eyes with a smile. "Let's get a picture of you two. Oh come on everyone's doing it" Mum said and I nodded ok wrapping an arm around Shawn who wrapped an arm back round me.
Mum took the photo and I slowly took my arm away from Shawn.
"I'll see you on Sunday to pick you up?" Shawn asked us both and I nodded.
"Perfect" I smiled and he nodded. I saw him lean down but I widened my eyes and looked round. Realising what he had done he stood up straight and scratched at the back of his neck.

Me, Mum and Shawn walked outside of the building where everyone was gathered taking photos and having general conversation with teachers and parents.
"Faye, honey..." I heard Mum say.
"You look beautiful" Shawn whispered and I blushed.
"Thank you" I smiled.
"Faye" Mum said and I rolled my eyes smiling at Shawn.
"Shit I'm late aren't I?" my heart stopped,  and I felt tears already start to prick at my eyes. I looked up at Shawn and I saw him trying to keep a cool face.
I heard the sound of a helmet being unclipped and put on a bike.
I turned as tears started to fall. There he was. Like he promised. He stood by his bike, a cigarette hanging from his mouth.

"Thomas" I said but obviously he didn't hear

"Thomas" I said but obviously he didn't hear. I saw my mother holding up her phone probably videoing the whole ordeal. "Thomas!" I yelled louder through the happy tears.
His head snapped in my direction and he quickly chucked the cigarette on the ground pushing back his hair.
He smiled widely and I looked both ways before running across the road and into his arms. "God I missed you" he said squeezing my waist tightly.
"I missed you so much Thomas!" I cried and he pulled back wiping his thumbs under my eyes. "I thought you had forgotten or you were too busy to come" I told him as my tears dried up.
"No no coming back was all I could think about. My flight was delayed then I had to get a taxi back home to grab my bike to come here" he explained and I nodded as I kept my arms locked around his waist, and his arms round mine looking down at me.
"How is it that you've gotten prettier since the last time I saw you?" He smiled making me blush more than I had in a long time.
"I haven't it's the power of makeup" I laughed and he shook his head.
"I find you pretty with or without it" he smiled and again I blushed.
"What happened with the girl you were seeing?" I asked and he sighed.
"I'll tell you more about that later. What's your mum doing?" He asked looking back to where my mum was still recording the encounter.
"Probably recording this whole thing"I laughed and he looked down into my eyes. My heart rate increased and all of a sudden I found it hard to breathe.
"Then lets really give her something to record" Thomas winked and I knew what was coming. Shawn's going to hate me. But no one could know about me and Shawn so I had to just go with it.
Thomas leaned down and pressed a kiss to my lips. And another longer one. I held the back of his head kissing him back.
"Come say hi" I said taking his hand and leading him across the road.

"Thomas you look so grown up my god" Mum said as Thomas bent down to hug her. Thomas was whisked to the side by a boy he knew and I took a deep breath, "Shawn's not going to be happy" mum whispered and I nodded.
"I know I know but it just happened. Besides I had to go along with it it's not like I can tell him about Shawn" I argued and Mum shrugged.
"Mr Scott" that American voice said and both me and Mum shared a panicked look. Shit.
"Mendes right?" Thomas asked and Shawn nodded.
"What are you doing back? I heard you moved to America?" Shawn said pretending he had no idea.
"Er yeah i have but couldn't miss her in her graduation outfit and birthday tomorrow" Thomas smiled putting an arm across my shoulders, his thumb rubbing circles into one of them.
"Are you turning eighteen tomorrow?" Shawn scowled and I nodded "anything nice planned?"
"I'm trusting her to have a party whilst I'm at work. Bad mistake" Mum covered for me and I nodded.
"Sorry to interrupt but is it ok if I stay at yours for a few days maybe a week?" Thomas said and Mum warmly said he could. I was happy he was staying. Shawn wasn't.
"We best head off then. Lovely talking to you Mr Mendes"Mum finished walking over to the car and Thomas over to his bike.

I looked up at Shawn who wouldn't even look at me.
"Hey...I'm sorry ok I'm really sorry but there's nothing I can do" I pleaded.
"You didn't have to kiss him" Shawn smiled sarcastically.
"Yes I did or I would have to explain to him that I'm dating you. He wouldn't get it" I whispered.
"Did you want to kiss him?" Shawn said gently guiding me away from any prying ears. We walked into the school after I shouted for Mum to wait and for Thomas to go home. "Answer"
"I had to Shawn whether I wanted to or not. I just need you to understand why I did it" I said.
"Did you like it?"
"Not as much as yours" I shrugged and I saw a little smile playing on his face. He looked round and took my hand leading me into a singular staff toilet, locking the door behind him.
"How romantic" I whispered making him laugh. The perks of having a semi illegal relationship.
"I just wanted to be alone with you just for a minute. You look beautiful honestly you do" he said and I blushed. I pulled his face to mine and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
"I love that suit" i laughed. "I'm sorry Shawn I really am" he nodded and cupped my face.
I stood up on my toes and joined our lips together. Although these few weeks haven't been good for us I can safely say I was starting to fall in love with him.
