Pairing: Eurus x Sherlock x Mycroft
Song: DNA by Lia Marie Johnson
Warnings: There's no reader in this, just a Holmes family imagine. I changed the first interactions between Sherlock/Eurus so its a bit AU. Wanted to try something different, hope you enjoyDark as midnight, sick pack Coors light, you don't look the same
Sherlock was too young then to understand. To understand why Eurus had to go away.
Past my bedtime, blue and red lights, come take you away
He didn't understand, but he was glad. Even back then, when he had no real understanding of what was going on, he was glad. If Eurus was gone, he didn't have to come to terms with what she was.
Hate to see you like a monster, so I run and hide
Now that he was older and Mycroft told him everything, he was scared. Scared because deep down, he'd always known that he was forgetting something. And now he knew what that was; Eurus.
Hate to ask, but what's it like to leave me behind?
He agreed to meet Eurus, why had he done that? The thought of standing face to face with her made him want to curl into a ball. Why was he so afraid of her?
I won't be, no I won't be like you
Deep down, Sherlock was afraid that he would see himself in her eyes. That he would see what he almost became. What he still could become.
Fighting back, I'm fighting back the truth, eyes like yours can't look away
He stood in front of the door that would lead to his sister. He felt like he may be sick. Mycroft stood beside him, face grim. He didn't not expect this to go well.
But you can't stop DNA, no you can't stop DNA
The door slid open, a too bright room coming into view. A woman with long dark hair stood with her back towards the brothers. Mycroft throat tightened, like it did every time he saw her. It caught him off guard every time.
Twice a year you come in crashing, nice to see you too
Every time Myc came to see her, he was washed in a feeling of guilt. He rarely came in to see her face to face. He mostly sat and watched from afar, like a coward.
Johnny Cash and backseat laughing, always ends too soon
Every time he looked into her eyes, he wanted so desperately to see a sweet innocent woman. To see a little sister who always begged to be carried and hated taking showers.
Hate to say hello cause I know that it means goodbye
A sister begged to eat ice cream for dinner and loved her stuffed animals. But the cold truth is that Eurus was never that person, never sweet or innocent. She didn't ask for toys for Christmas, never wanted any friends.
Hate to ask, but what's it like to leave me behind?
She was more interested in the human anatomy, and how much it could take before falling apart. In her cell, Eurus turned around and met the gazes of her brothers.
I won't be, no I won't be like you
Sherlock gulped. He had nearly forgotten the way Eurus' eyes gleamed, in beauty and danger and curiosity. It was arguably her most distinguishing feature, her eyes.
Fighting back, I'm fighting back the truth, eyes like yours can't look away
But that shine that wasn't what chilled Sherlock to the bone. For when he met her gaze, it was like looking into a mirror.
But you can't stop DNA, no you can't stop DNA
He saw his addictions to drugs, to crime, to being in control. He saw his constant wariness, of being lied to or hurt. He saw his anxiety, his constant alertness as if everything and everyone was out to get him.
Are the pieces of you in the pieces of me?
It was startling for Sherlock to so clearly see himself and all his hidden secrets, displayed so vividly in his sisters eyes. Anyone else may not have noticed, but he did.
I'm just so scared you're who I'll be
Eurus spoke quiet words, asking why it had taken Sherlock so long to come see her. He contemplated saying he wasn't even aware she existed, or that he thought her dead. But neither was entirely true.
When I erupt just like you do, they look at me like I look at you
"I decided it was finally time." Mycroft answered, voice wavering. Any other time Sherlock would have picked up on his brothers current crisis. But Sherlock was in his own.
I won't be, no I won't be like you
Sherlock wasn't sure how much longer he could stand there. His lungs felt tight, head light. The longer he stared into her eyes, the longer he saw himself.
Fighting back, I'm fighting back the truth
Away from her, with her out of his mind palace, he could fool himself into thinking he wasn't anything like her.
Eyes like yours can't look away
But looking into her eyes, he couldn't deny it. Eurus was his blood, and that was something he couldn't escape. He couldn't escape the reality that he had been so close to going down her path. Couldn't escape that he still could go down her path.
But you can't stop DNA
He couldn't escape his DNA.
No you can't stop DNA
