You, sir, are a twit

Larkin

I woke up to see Maverick smiling at me. "That's kind of creepy; you know that?"

"I don't think so. I think it's nice to wake up to a smile," Maverick shrugged.

I furrowed my brows at him, then looked at my clock. It was eight in the morning, so I did what any college kid on summer break does. I rolled back over and went back to sleep.

"Oh, no, you don't," he said, laying on top of me.

I groaned. "You're a twit; you know that?"

"Yes, but I am a hot twit that loves you," he said as he gave me a sloppy kiss on the cheek.

I sighed.

"Lark?" Maverick asked.

"Yes," I answered.

"You okay? You didn't have another nightmare again, did you?" Maverick asked me.

I didn't look at him, and he knew. Yeah, the nightmares had been more frequent lately, and I didn't understand why.

I was doing fine then boom; they started all over again. Why do I have to be the one to deal with this? Why does life hate me so much?

He pulled me to him, "Lark, it's okay."

"Mav, it's not okay. I can't even function properly like most people. With a relationship, I'm terrified," I confessed.

He looked down at me as I looked at him, emotionless. I refuse to cry.

"I think I know someone can help," Maverick mentions.

I gave him a look.

We drove for about an hour until we pulled up to an enormous house. He got out and motioned for me to follow him, "Come on."

I got out and followed behind him as we walked up to the front door. He knocked twice, and it opened to a guy. "If you're selling anything, we aren't buying." Then he slams the door on us. Okay, this twit was annoying.

The next thing we heard is yelling, "Liam, who's at the damn door?"

"Just some freaking solicitors!" Liam yelled back.

We stood there as the door opened to reveal Jordan. He looked at us, "Forgive my idiot son," he sighed.

"No worries. It's always a delight to see Liam," Maverick said sarcastically, earning a look from Jordan.

"Yes, I know. Thanks for the reminder," Jordan retorted.

I found the offensive side to Maverick kind of hot. Who knew?

Jordan stepped aside as we walked inside and closed the door.

"Jordan, you idiot! I will beat your ass," a petite woman said, walking into the room.

"What did I do?" Jordan asked the woman.

"You gave the double troubles half of your DNA," she spat.

"Not my fault they are idiots. I blame Frazier," Jordan reasoned.

"And I blame you, so we're all even," she smirked.

He gave her a look as we stood there.

"Elena, this is Maverick and Larkin, who I told you about," Jordan told the woman.

She looked at us and said, "Oh, hello."

I stood there, not sure what to do. I only knew Jordan because of him helping Lyric. I didn't see the rest of them.
