________Silence overtook the room as Penelope took in the sight of her father who standing in front of her, looking around the bedroom they were both in.
Penelope couldn't really remember the last time she had seen him, the last time they had talked he was letting her know that her attitude and distaste for his new girlfriend was unacceptable and not wanted. It had hurt Penelope for some time but what could she do?"What are you doing here?" Penelope questioned as she crossed her arms and stared at her Dad, who looked totally out of place. He was wearing one of his many fancy suits, there wasn't a time that Penelope had ever seen him in casual clothes. Her Dad would always say that first impressions were important and that you met new people everyday.
"What? A father can't come and check up on his little girl?" Jose questioned and Penelope knew he wasn't being serious. There was obviously something he needed or else he wouldn't have shown up in the first place. "I was in the neighborhood, figured I'd stop by." Jose continued on the act and Penelope was slowly growing irritated.
"Trying to butter me up isn't going to help just tell me why you're here." Penelope wanted to get straight to the point, what was the point of dragging the whole thing on? Jose let out a deep breath as he sat down on the edge of the bed that was in the middle of the room.
"I'm selling the clubs that are in New York and Chicago and I'm moving back to Nevada, going to focus on the club there." Jose said as he pulled his black iPhone from his suit jacket. "Veronica and I are going to have a baby. Figured it would be best to slow things down." Jose had announced the news so casually that Penelope didn't think she had heard him right. All of Penelope's 23 years of living she had been an only child. Was she suppose to be excited?
"You're having a baby?" Penelope whispered as she looked at her father's face, a wide smile was clear on his face and Penelope hated how happy he looked. Jealously was forming in the pit of her stomach. The baby wasn't even born yet and Penelope could already see the love her Father had for it, where was the love and admiration when she was younger?
Memories of the empty promises Jose had given her when she was younger clouded her mind. She couldn't shake away the images of empty chairs she would reserve for her Dad at dance recitals and volleyball games. Penelope couldn't help the embarrassment she felt each time she was let down.
"You have to be fucking kidding me." Penelope said loudly and Jose was quick to give her a look, "a lady shouldn't say those words" is what he would always say. Maybe that's why Penelope swore like sailor, it got a reaction out of him. "You passed me off, nanny after nanny and then boarding school, you really think you're meant to be a Dad again?!" Penelope yelled and fuck, she knew that everyone could probably hear her yells but she couldn't help how angry she felt at not just her Dad for thinking he should have another kid but at Diego too, for bringing a girl into one of the places she considered home. She was angry at Diggy as well and she couldn't believe that he had given up. Penelope just couldn't help but be mad at everyone.
