Taehyung froze. His face blank, not giving away any of his thoughts. His mind was blown with Jungkook's answer.
Yes, he had spent some time with the younger trying to get to know each other, but still he was amazed.
The first thought that came to Jungkook's mind when Namjoon asked him to pick a flavor for Taehyung, was how unpredictable the other was. Taehyung behaved like a child, but his choices were suitable for adults. A child wouldn't like the bitterness of dark chocolate ice cream. And Taehyung was sure to go for that option.
The two other older males in the shop, Namjoon and Yoongi, were puzzled with what just happened.
Taehyung looked at Yoongi and nodded, asking for a scoop.
After taking their respective orders, Taehyung, Namjoon and Jungkook made their way back together to their apartments. Taehyung was exceptionally quiet that night. His mind filled with a thousand thoughts. He felt that questioning himself about his feelings for Namjoon was just making him feel worse. He maintained a gap between himself and the other two boys. Not wanting to be a burden on them while he sulked.
"Hyung, why does Tae look upset?" Jungkook whispered to the older.
"I am not sure, I thought ice cream would cheer him up" he sighed and continued, "I told him a bit about how things were for you a few years back, I think that's what affected him this much."
The youngest stopped in his tracks. "Why would you? I don't want him to pity me." Jungkook wasn't happy with what the older had done.
"Kook, he cares a lot about you. He deserved to know why you were harsh on him. I'm sorry I was the one who told him but I knew you would never bring it up." Jungkook sighed, he knew Namjoon had done the right thing, and for some unknown reason, he felt a weight lift off his chest. He would never have to talk about it to Taehyung and recall everything that had taken place. Although it all happened a long time ago, the wounds left behind, still hurt.
"Can I ask you something?" Jungkook asked. Namjoon nodded.
"Are you two happy?"
Namjoon stopped walking, his mind went blank. Should he be honest?
"I... am not sure if this is called being happy" was all he could answer.
Jungkook looked up, his face filled with concern.
"Perhaps I am going to try harder to make things work out, but I don't know where this is going..." Namjoon sighed.
Suddenly, the two boys were engulfed in a bear hug from Taehyung. "Woah what happened?" Namjoon chuckled.
"I have been overthinking too much these days. I am going to stop doing that and just go with the flow, cherish every moment I get with you guys, my family." With that all three boys hugged each other tightly, cherishing the moment, as it slowly started to drizzle.
