In which a  very lesbian pirate meets a very confused mermaid.

"Straight ahead, boys!" Ruby shouted while walking around the ship, "I gather you'd want to spend the night in an inn impressing all the ladies."

One of the crew members spoke up. He wasn't content with having a woman for a captain, even if she was the daughter of the true captain of this vessel. She was just as capable enough, but everyone knew women on board would only bring bad luck. Just because it hadn't happened yet, didn't mean it wouldn't happen. "How about a handsome boy for you?"

Ruby scoffed, "That won't be necessary."

"It seems to me someone doesn't want to get laid tonight."

She smiled. "I didn't say that."

They sailed straight ahead until it was starting to get dark and one of the crew members had a problem with it. The man stood next to his captain and whispered something in her ear. "I understand your worries about going through their territory, but I can assure you, there will be no problem as long as I'm the captain."

The sailor gave her a sceptic look. "Are you sure you're not going to get distracted?"

"I can be very persuasive, even to those beings."

Soon after their conversation, they were met with the sight of rocks and the sea had become rougher. Then, one of the men fell out of the ship.

"Mermaids!"

"Keep the sails up and keep the ship steady!" Ruby said, pulling the man at the steer closer. "There's a reason I picked you for this spot, you know? Prove me I was right to make that decision."

He nodded, "I won't disappoint you, captain, if you don't disappoint me."

"Won't be a problem."

She moved closer to the edge of the ship, her amber eyes drifting off to one of the creatures in the water. Her skin was as pale as the sand on the beach and her hair was as dark as the rocks. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of blue and seemed to sparkle in the pale moonlight.

Ruby walked away from the mermaid, not averting her eyes for even a moment. Why must the most beautiful beings be the most dangerous on the seven seas? She had no problems fighting her rival, yet the very thing that was currently threatening the lives of her men made her hesitant.

"Captain!" one of the men yelled. He had fallen in the water and was sitting on a lonely rock in an attempt to escape the vicious ladies.

"Dammit," Ruby uttered before diving with a rope that was tied to one of the wooden posts of the ship. She got to him before any of the mermaids could and told him to hold on to the rope. "Let this be the last time I save your ass, or you're fired."

The pale mermaid with the black hair moved closer to the two of them. Ruby smiled. "What's your name, beautiful?"

"Captain!"

Ruby stroked the mermaid's cheek, who was now looking at her with wide eyes and raised eyebrows. Was it so unusual for a flirty lesbian to pass through these parts? with one last wink, she and the sailor were pulled up to the ship, "I guess that will have to wait then."

The man at the steer looked at her with raised eyebrows, awaiting an explanation as to why she didn't immediately try to kill the evil creature. "I thought you said it wouldn't be a problem."

"Nothing bad happened to me, right?" she countered, "Besides, I prefer ladies with legs." As soon as they left mermaid territory, she continued. "What's wrong with leaving behind a trail of broken hearts?"
