Kong's POV
I waited till everyone left the room before I swung around to face Jes. He had his eyes narrowed as he silently observed me.
"Jes, why were you going to send Krit to Japan?"
He continued staring at me for a few silent moments before he let out a deep sigh.
"Quite some time ago, long before Arthit came along, I had stopped seeing Krit's future. No matter how hard I tried I wouldn't be able to see anything about him. I didn't think too much about it then. It's not uncommon. Many times the harder I try to see something the more it evades me. So I didn't worry about Krit. But when Arthit came to me about you getting shot and accusing Lila, I wasn't so sure anymore. I didn't have reason to suspect Lila but I simply couldn't discard my lack of knowledge about Krit. So I decided it would be better to send him away for the time being. Atleast until Arthit got stronger. What did you smell on him?"
"P'Arthit's blood"
"Are you sure?"
"Do you know how much that man has bled in the past few months. It's like that smell has been permanently imprinted in my brain. Ofcourse I am sure. And it's fresh. Not even a couple hours. Who was with Krit today? Do we know where he went?"
"I think he was alone all day. We can track his phone to see all the places he visited. Do you really think he had something to do with kidnapping Arthit? They took Lila too. You think Krit would hurt Lila?"
"I don't know......but you obviously didn't trust him enough to want to send him to Japan. Don't you think we should atleast investigate?"
"Yes.....yes. We should. Go get some rest. I will call you once I know where Krit has been all day."
I turned to head towards the door. It was probably a good idea to get atleast a few hours of sleep. I had been running around between different locations for four days and I was exhausted. When we did get the clue about their whereabouts I wanted all my senses as sharp as possible. I had almost reached the door before I paused and turned to look at Jes.
"Jes will you promise me something?"
"What?"
"If you find out where P'Arthit is, will you promise to tell me? Will you promise to not hide anything you discover from me?"
"Do you really think it is wise? Do you know how worried Arthit has been for your life. We don't know how dangerous it is where ever they are. Do you really think Arthit would want you involved."
"Is it because P'Arthit wouldn't want me there or you don't want me there?"
"Can't both be true at the same time?"
"They can be. It is also going to be true that one way or another I will be there once you find them. It's upto you to decide if I have to go there by myself or if I will have your support."
He held my gaze for a few moments before he gave me a brief nod.
"Ok. I will call you when I know anything more. Make sure you don't make me chose between you or Arthit."
"Yes sir"
I stood under the shower for what seemed like forever. What exactly was going on? And how had I missed so many signals right in front of me. I should have told Jes earlier I wasn't ready for this responsibility. I am just so inexperienced. And I know it sounds like I am making an excuse for messing up everything but right now I feel so lost, so helpless. And if something happened to P'Arthit it will be my fault. I was so conflicted right now. So confused. I didn't know if I was praying for Krit to not be involved, praying for my best friend to not have betrayed me or hoping that what I smelt on him was actually right. That this was the clue we needed to lead us to P'Arthit. I am not ready for this. I am not ready to be responsible for lives that I care so deeply about.
I was laying on my bed, not even trying to sleep. I knew it would evade me until this horrible nightmare culminated. It had just been a short days ago when I was teasing P'Arthit about his reaction to our night together. Right now I would give anything to see his blushing, embarrassed face again. I sat up on my bed when I heard the soft footsteps of Jes outside my door and a few seconds later he entered after a soft knock.
"Kong, are you awake?"
"Jes! What happened? Did you find out anything."
"Yes"
"Yes? Yes, what?"
"We know where Krit was all day."
"And? Do you P'Arthit and Lila are there too?"
"Yes"
"What are we waiting for then? Let's go."
"Listen Kong, I think you should stay here. I am going to send absolutely everyone we have to get them out. I have also contacted the cops. I promise you I will get them back here before you know it."
"Jes are you insane? There is no way I am going to sit around here waiting when I know where they are."
"Kong I might have dismissed P'Arthit too soon earlier. I am not sure if Lila is involved or not. I really think you should wait for them here."
"What? Jes what are you talking about? Why would Lila be involved. They have her kidnapped remember. Why are we wasting time? We need to leave now."
I had pulled on my jacket and shoes hurriedly and was almost at the door when Jes tried to stop me again.
"Kong, we also know who kidnapped them and why."
"Really? Who?"
"The people who want to kill your father."
