Chapter Two

Meeting the Queen Bitch!

Ashley POV

"Chase, please take a seat." The Lecturer instructed.

Turning to me, she continued, "And you must be the new transfer student. Please introduce yourself and tell us what you have found interesting about the school so far."

As I watched Chase sit at the back next to the jerk and his towering friends, the lecturer repeated, "Miss, quickly introduce yourself."

I hesitated, meeting her expectant look. "I'd love to hear what you think, given you're new here." She encouraged me with a nod.

Standing beside her desk, facing the curious stares, I had to admit internally that my first impressions weren't exactly positive; everything and everyone seemed rather irritating.

Taking a breath, I began, "My name is Ashley Sky and..."

"And something you like about the school, girl." Snapped a girl with light blonde hair and grayish green eyes, interrupting my introduction.

I responded with my most sardonic smile, almost glad that none of them seemed to recognize who I was. Although, Charlotte...my stepmother has been drowning me about my father's reputation in this city. My father, Richie Sky, was a local celebrity, owning the top fashion industry in the city.

"Calm down, Jessica." The Lecturer chastised and I watched as Jessica turned away with a scoff.

"Please just take a seat, Ashley." The Lecturer then said, gesturing toward an empty spot in the classroom.

I simply nodded and moved to sit down.

As I navigated my way towards the empty seat, my feet got tangled with someone's foot. Caught off guard, I stumbled to the floor, the sound of laughter echoing around me.

Slowly, I picked myself up, pushing my hair behind my ears and turned to see Jessica smiling back at me, guilt flickering in her eyes.

Bending down, I gathered my belongings from the floor, shooting Jessica one final stare before taking the empty seat right behind her.

If it weren't my first day, I might have wiped that smile right off her face.

"Ashley, are you okay?" The Lecturer asked, her gaze fixed on me.

"I'm perfectly fine." I replied, arranging my books on the desk.

"It's just this squeaky ass twig still learning how to sit properly." I sighed, casting a glance at Jessica and there were echoes of chuckles.

"Pipe down before I have to send you to the Dean's office, young lady." The Lecturer spoke, maintaining her stern tone while Jessica looked at me with a scoff.

"Yes ma'am." I responded and she returned her attention to the whiteboard.

As the lecturer began writing on the board, Jessica leaned over to meet my gaze with her voice low and tense.

"You think you're so clever, don't you?" She hissed. I rolled my eyes and opened my book, trying not to laugh.

"I'm the Queen here and you just tried to make a fool of me." Her whisper was sharp as I raised an eyebrow.

"The Queen of what exactly?" I asked, equally subdued while fiddling with my pen on the desk.

"Just know you're in my territory, so watch your back." She scoffed. I sighed, leaning back and waving her off.

Jessica smirked at my silence, a cold glint in her eyes, "We'll see how long you last here, Sky."

"Looking forward to it." I replied with a bitter smile as she turned away. My gaze returned to my notebook, but my mind was buzzing with irritation.

I glanced at the girl next to me, noticing a bottle of water sitting innocently on her desk. An impulsive idea flashed through my mind and a mischievous smile spread across my face.

"Could I borrow this water?" I asked her hastily. She looked at me, then at the bottle and gave a hesitant nod.

Gladly, I picked up the bottle and unscrewed the cap. With a quick glance around, I made my decision and poured the water right onto Jessica's head.

I swiftly locked the bottle as she shot up from her seat and I set it on my desk. Jessica spun around to glare at me furiously with water dripping down her face.

"Bitch." She screeched at me, sounding so shrill I wondered when a bird had flown into the room.

"Don't tell me you skipped your shower this morning before coming to school, you naughty girl." I replied with dripping sarcasm, watching her throw her hands up in frustration as our classmates snickered.

"What the hell is going on in here?" The Lecturer exploded, slamming a book onto her desk.

"Language, teacher." I quipped quickly, chuckling. "We wouldn't want the Dean to overhear, would we?" She straightened up, clearing her throat in embarrassment.

I caught a smirk from the jerk who'd bothered me earlier; he shook his head, amused, sharing a look with his friends.

"Miss, she just spilled a bottle of water on me." Jessica complained, pointing accusingly at me as she turned to the teacher.

"Is that true, Ashley?" The Lecturer asked, her eyes narrowing.

I paused, meeting her gaze. "Would I do that without a very good reason?" I answered.

The lecturer's expression tightened, her eyes scanning my face for a hint of insincerity or defiance. After a moment, she sighed, the lines of frustration evident on her brow.

"Regardless of the reason, we do not resolve conflicts like this in my classroom." She stated firmly.

"But I will let this slide as long as you both ensure it doesn't happen again and it ends here." Her tone left no room for argument.

Jessica and I exchanged a glance. We nodded in reluctant agreement, knowing it was just the beginning.

"Jessica, bathroom." The Lecturer said with a dismissive wave.

Jessica quickly snatched her bag from her seat and stormed out of the room without another word.

I turned back to my desk, facing the girl whose bottle of water I had borrowed.

"I'll buy you another one." I offered, but she just shrugged it off.

Settling back into my seat, I started to jot down the information from the whiteboard, when the lecturer's voice cut through the quiet again.

"Excuse me, Ashley, could you remind me of your last name?" She asked, pulling my attention away from my notes.

"Sky." I responded, refocusing on my notebook.

"Your father?" She prompted and I nodded without pausing my note-taking.

"Yes, Richie Sky is my father and I happen to be his only daughter. I'm quite aware of that." I confirmed, aware of the whispers fluttering through the classroom.

"I'm so thrilled to have you in my class, Miss Ashley." The Lecturer gushed, her smile tinged with excitement.

I shrugged, downplaying her enthusiasm. "It's really not a big deal."

Just then, that annoying jerk finally piped up, "Do we get autographs, or is it just the lecturers since she's been gracing us with her mighty presence?" His remark drew laughter from his friends and I shot him a sharp glare.

"Come on, class, let's discuss the last point before any further unnecessary bickering." The Lecturer interjected, briskly standing as she prepared to steer us back to the topic at hand.
