"Get back here!!!!" Branch yells and I kinda just sit back enjoying the show, for once I ain't being the crazy one.
"Come on i wasn't even talking to you!!!" The sadistic cloud yells back.
Poppy had given up a while ago on trying to stop the violence, and is currently spiraled out on the tree trying to catch her breath...eventually though the scene became annoying.
" Branch..." I step in and grab his arm.
" what?" He gasps out trying to consume air that he lost from his little chase.
"Did you even notice we are in Bergen town?" I chuckle and he looks at me like I just said pigs could fly.
Branch finally takes that moment to look around and he notices that we are indeed in the old troll tree in Bergen town...though it's a lot less colorful then what it once was.
"Oh...no I didn't notice..." he says and I just pat his back.
"See I kept my promise" the cloud says as he takes a step toward the tunnel to get back out, "I'll see you guys later you know, if you don't...." once again he strikes a dramatic pose,"DIE die...die die" the cloud man then leaves and Branch sighs in relief.
" you know I'm not gonna let you forget about this now right?" I tease giving Branch a little smirk.
Branch rolls his eyes before glancing at poppy, I feel a little tear in my heart to know he's more worried about her...but he did almost kill a cloud for being a jerk to me so. I'll take my victories where I can get them.
"You ok poppy?" Branch asks and she gives him a thumbs up, and slowly makes her way up into a standing position.
" you must be a supertroll if you can run that much and not pass out..." she chuckles.
"I'm surprised you have energy for never being happy" poppy shrugs.
I block out the rest of their conversation as I look around. And no matter how hard I try to fight it a feeling of nostalgia hits me full force as I remember the times I had with my family. It's true we trolls were eaten on trollstis but other then that this tree was our home...and it was the only place I had my family.
I close my eyes as I take in the memories, my mom teasing my dad for his singing as she braided my hair back out of my face. Another time where my mom picked me up when I had fallen on my face trying to get up the branch and she sang to me trying to cheer me up. Then other times, where they tried their best to hide me and keep me from seeing the bergens eating others of our kind. The last memory I see is the most dreadful one, the day I lost them. My mom was sitting at a table with me and we were humming a beat as I danced around. Dad came running up yelling, warning us the bergens were here. Everyone scattered like rats trying to get to safety, everyone but my mom, dad and a few others.
"You need to hide (y/n)!" Mom yells as she pushes me further into the tree.
"No, not without you and dad!" I cry and she gives me a small smile.
"Everything's going to be ok, but I'll be damned if I let anything happen to you" I knew then how serious this was, my mom never cussed not unless she was scared.
She gave me a kiss on the forehead and took off running toward dad. Right as she got there a Bergen came and lifted them both up.
"Mom, Dad!!!!please wait!!!" I yelled, but somebody held me back from running to them. I really don't remember who it was that held me back, but let me tell you if I knew I would ask them why the didn't let me go...why didn't they let me join my family...
"(Y/n)...." I snap out of my memories as I turn to face Branch.
"You ok?" He asks and I put on a smile.
"Yea...just a trip down memory lane" I respond bitterly.
Branch looks at me with eyes of concern, but doesn't push it. He puts a arm around my shoulder and guides me back over to poppy.
"Look at how miserable they are..." poppy says glancing at the bergens below.
"There almost as depressed as the two of you" she mumbles.
"Just means we understand reality and how it works" I say and she looks at me shocked.
"Your gonna have to face reality eventually, and I hope to be there when you see just how unfair the real world is" I say with a blank expression.
Branch just sort of stands there not knowing what to say, he probably didn't expect me to say that to poppy.
" welp we ain't doing anything just sitting here!!!" Poppy says with her normal peppy attitude.
She chuckles and grabs a hold of Branch's hand and pulls him along.
I whisper, "wait..." as I watch them go on a head.
And once again I was left alone.
