Weeks passed with little to no problems. King Dice, The Devil and the rest of the staff continued on with their business like nothing ever happened, however Dice didn't set another foot on the stage since. Until one Tuesday night.
The Devil woke Dice up early in the morning by the creeking of his bedroom door. Dice opened one eye slowly to see a furred figure moving towards him, then felt a dip in the bed where Devi had lay on it.
"Are you awake?" Devi whispered as he wrapped an arm around his partner.
"Hey..." Dice smiled to himself, pushing his head further into the pillow and thanking the world.
"What's wrong?" Dice asked him.
Devi sighed deeply, his breath hitting the back of Dice's neck, making him shiver.
"I was worried about you, that's all!"
"Oh so that's how it is?~" Dice giggled.
"Yeah, of course! You know how much I worry about you..."
"You seem to be softening up to the idea of being all cuddly towards me recently. I didn't think you felt the same way-"
"I-I don't!" Devi spluttered abruptly.
Dice felt his heart sink at that, as if it was going to fall out of his side and melt into the sheets below him.
Meanwhile, Devi felt his entire face go red underneath his fur. There were more important things at hand, he had no time for silly love stories. There was so much at risk. The casino, Dice's safety, even The Devil's safety if things got too out of hand.
That still didn't mean he couldn't savour this moment while he still could, though.
"Hey Dice..." Devi whispered, having changed the subject very quickly.
"Yeah?"
"Sing for me?"
Dice purred softly, a warm feeling returning back to his heart in replace of the cold shock it had just received. He guessed he'd savour this moment, too. That night, when the doors opened and the sun had just started to set, for the first time in almost a month; King Dice took hold of the microphone and stepped up on the casino's main stage. The gamblers all screamed in pure joy at his return, each of them expecting to be brought to tears with laughter.
Tears did fall, but nobody was laughing. My lover's got humour
He's the giggle at a funeralKing Dice began to sing, for the first time in front of an audience. But the whole time his mouth was open and he let out the soft notes, his eyes were kept on The Devil the whole time, who stood behind the crowd with a soft smile on his face.
Knows everybody's disapproval
I should've worshipped him soonerPart of King Dice hoped Yuri had somehow made his way into the crowd. "Look at me! Look at the way I'm looking at him!" Dice thought to himself over and over.
"I can sing in front of anyone I like and it will always just be for him!"
Devi.If the Heavens ever did speak
He's the last true mouthpieceEvery Sunday's getting more bleak
A fresh poison each week'We were born sick, ' you heard them say it
Then a shifty, round set of eyes that belonged to a hooded person rushed past a group of people in the audience, causing them to jump in shock. But King Dice's eyes never left Devi's face. The hooded figure disappeared into the staff rooms and Dice didn't even notice.
"I love him so much..." he just thought. He really did. No matter whether it was mutual. Yuri didn't own him. He belonged to The Devil. So did his voice. His body, and his soul.
No more jokes. My church offers no absolutes
He tells me 'worship in the bedroom'
The only heaven I'll be sent to
Is when I'm alone with you
I was born sick, but I love it
Command me to be well
Amen, Amen, Amen
Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life...The audience burst out into whaling and blubbering, a mess of tears and excited yells.
King Dice exhaled a deep breath, feeling a huge weight finally float off of his shoulders.
He hopped off of the stage and Devi greeted him with open arms.
"Dice I am so proud of you..." he grinned, holding the man in a crushing bear hug to which King Dice happily returned despite being completely winded.
"Tough crowd!" Dice joked around, giving Devi a cheeky wink before he rested his head on his chest.
"So I own you, huh?" Devi chuckled. His chest rose and fell beneath the side of Dice's head.
"Wh-what?!" Dice's eyes widened in shock. Did he read his mind?
The man removed his head from the mass of The Devil's fur and gave him a hard, but not vicious punch on the side of the arm.
"Hey, you promised me you'd never do that!!"
"When do I ever keep promises?"
They teased around for about a minute, but Dice stopped the fun and games short and his eyes gave off a serious look for once in his life.
"But do you promise you'll look after me...?"
The Devil sighed innocently and gave King Dice a gentle smooch on the cheek, his fur tickling the rough surface of his face.
"That's a promise I could never break,"Across the casino, the Domino couple was met by the cloaked person. Confusion took over them both when they received a gift from him, a pink box labeled "To King Dice" with a white ribbon tied neatly around it.
"Ah, we're not supposed to send gifts to King Dice at the moment. The Devil demanded it himself!" they both said simultaneously.
"Oh, please?" the cloaked person whined "I'm a huge fan! I've been waiting to send this to him for-ever! Don't you think he has a beautiful singing voice?"
The person swooned and that was enough to convince the softhearted dominos on the spot.
"I guess one wouldn't hurt...You're aware of the consequences if this isn't genuine, though?" they raised their eyebrows in unison.
"Well aware..."
The person in front of them placed his hand over his side and let out a vengeful growl, one that was not clocked on amongst the kerfuffle in the busy establishment.
"We'll give it to him tomorrow, then!"The hooded figure left, and everyone went back to work as usual.
Nobody even noticed that Devi and Dice left the main casino together; let alone go to bed in the same room that night...
The gift was left on the domino's bedside table the whole night.
The ticking inside it was masked by the sound of their snoring.Quick A/N: (edited)
I wasn't not entirely sure what the Dominos were to each other at first? bc they are two entities in one I assumed they're like...conjoined twins or something. someone confirmed that they're actually married so i've made some changes! Sorry about that!
