Bokuto
"They put in a new cafe around the corner from school! Isn't that awesome?" The first year who's name I didn't know exclaimed excitedly.
I glanced over and stretched crossing my arms behind my head as we walked towards the cafe.
"Yeah we could go there after volleyball practice." A second year nodded eagerly.
"What do you think Bokuto?" The first year asked me.
I shrugged.
"Cafe's are cool and all, but I don't drink caffeine too much. I have enough energy on my own." I exclaimed proudly.
"Well that's true." My classmate snickered. I glared at him a moment before bursting into laughter.
We rounded the corner and came to the cafe. It was a small storefront that looked more like a bookstore from the outside.
As we stepped inside and I was greeted by the aroma of fresh baked goods and the bitter scent of coffee.
The others went ahead and ordered what they wanted. I stared at the menu for what felt like an eternity not able to make up my own mind.
I don't know what sounds good.
Panicked I stepped up to the counter as it was my turn.
I looked up to smile apologetically to the cashier. Instead I gaped staring into the face of an angel.
"Pretty." I murmured.
The boy behind the counter stared back blankly.
"What's your name?" I asked leaning over the counter. The angel leaned back a bit. A slight blush formed on his cheeks.
So cute!
"Akaashi." He spoke softly.
"I'm Bokuto. Nice to meet ya. What school do you go to? I've never seen you around here before." I started chatting away with no one to hold me back.
"I just moved here." He shook his head.
"Oh!" I exclaimed as though that were totally obvious.
"Excuse me sir are you going to order? I must get back to work soon." A grumpy customer tapped my shoulder.
"Sorry! Um, I- um." I began to panic. I didn't know what to order before getting in line, and this angel made my brain melt.
"May I recommend our blueberry scone and a blueberry flavored latte? It's our special today and it's one of my favorites." Akaashi chimed in.
"Sure!" I agreed and quickly paid before hurrying to the pick up sign.
"Geesh Bokuto. What was with that stupid look on your face. Looks like you wanted to order that cashier off of the menu." My classmate chuckled causing a first year to squirt milk through his nose.
"I did not!" I turned away blushing wildly.
"We'll wait for you outside." A second year started to shove the others away towards the door.
I sighed and leaned against the wall. I watched as the cashier disappeared into the kitchens behind a door.
I frowned wishing I could see him one last time before we left.
