chapter 11

Xavier's POV

I'd been running through rogue territory for almost a day now. Luckily, no one seemed to be able to track my scent quickly enough in order to catch me. By the time anyone sensed my presence I was long gone and onto the next territory.

Although I was relatively safe, It was a relief when I started to see the top of the castle through the tree line. Yet, I knew I'd be shot on sight by any royal guards who heard noise due to me being on rogue territory. So, at the last minute I took a left off the path and hid in the bushes out of sight.

They can't shoot what they can't see.

I tried to be as quiet as possible whilst I was scoping out the grounds. Guards were patrolling the border, armed and the castle was so far into the clearing that trying to make any sort of dive for the castle would result in me automatically being shot.

I well and truly had no idea on how to get into the castle.

Stepping forward to get a better look at the grounds, a twig snapped under my wolfs paw halting my action. Oh no.

"I heard something over here!" a voice called causing me to let out a string of curses in my head.

I was going to die.

Again.

"Step forward, Rogue. Your compliance may mean we don't shoot. And, if you tell us how you managed to get so close to royal grounds without being slaughtered we may spare you completely," A guard said, pointing his gun at the bush.

I froze. I was not about to step out where I was vulnerable on a small chance they may not shoot. I wasn't crazy.

Remaining in the bushes, I watched as more and more guards surrounded the area until near enough thirty were trying to get me to reveal myself.

"We will open fire in exactly ten seconds if you do not reveal yourself, rogue!" Another guard hollered.

Well, that wouldn't be good.

With a small huff from my wolf, I tried to ease out of my hiding place as slowly as possible to show I meant no harm. Bit by bit, as I revealed my striking white wolf more, the guards collectively gasped.

"Someone get the King and Queen, for the love of god!" A guard shouted frantically.

I stood, nervous, in my wolf form, not really knowing what to do. I wasn't dead yet so I was doing something right.

Eventually, a guard threw me some clothes which fell in front of me and told me to go change behind a tree or something. I nodded in my wolf form, grasping the clothes with my teeth lightly so they didn't rip or get covered in saliva.

Exiting the gazes of the shocked guards, I went behind a tree and changed into my human form, Putting on the clothes I was given and heading back out. Everyone still seemed to be astounded as they stared at me.

My golden eyes took in the surroundings around me, suddenly feeling exhausted with all the running I had done to get here.

"What is this ruckus? I demand to know now!" A sharp voice yelled, making its way through the crowd.

Before me stood the queen who gasped and covered her mouth, utterly speechless as well as the King who's features grew from angry to shocked. All of the kings angry lines melted into his skin as he took in my appearance.

"I don't believe it," The king mumbled, still staring at me in awe.

"Xander, Xander baby is that you?" The queen cried as she finally realised it was real.

"I um, it's a long story. I'm not too sure what's going on myself if I'm honest but I'm happy to explain," I answered them awkwardly, feeling out of place.

"Of course, of course, come in dear!" The queen gushed as she ran over to guide me through the guards.

As we walked through the grounds towards the castle, I couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort as if I was home. I had no clue what was going on but I knew that the next few months was going to be all the more confusing.

_____

Bella's POV

Ricky and I were sat around the breakfast table in silence, not too sure what to do with ourselves. It had been two days since the rogue attack and not only was the pack in tatters but with Xavier gone, most of us were feeling it.

Alpha Aries hadn't left his office since due to trying to track the rogues that attacked us. He was so angry when he found out Xavier was gone. I didn't know they were even close so I assumed it was the loss of a pack member that was getting to him.

Molly, Alpha Aries' mate walked in with her ever so growing pregnant belly. Everyone hated her. She was the pack warrior and after she found out she was the Alpha's mate and all her duties were abandoned for someone else to do as she kicked her feet back. It got even worse when she fell pregnant as she expected everyone to be her servant and run around for her.

Thankfully, with being Ricky's mate who was acting as Alpha whilst Alpha Aries was preoccupied, I was allowed some authority and wouldn't get in trouble for standing up to Molly.

"Where is breakfast? God, those lazy Omegas!" She tutted, taking a seat.

"I gave them the day off, you'll need to make your own breakfast," I replied as she snapped her head up to me.

"Excuse me?" She shrieked. "You have no authority to do that. Who do you think you are. You're nothing without Ricky, pfft, trying to order your Luna around. I am carrying the next Alpha of the Blue Moon pack!"

"I do have authority actually as whilst your mate is preoccupied, Ricky is acting Alpha, therefore I'm acting Luna and not being funny, Molly, but your mate hasn't even marked you yet. You hardly have a claim to the title Luna," I sassed her as he jaw dropped to the ground.

"You can't talk to me like that! Just wait till Alpha Aries hears!" Molly sussed as she stood, scraping her chair backwards.

"Hear what?" Alpha Aries asked as the room stayed quiet, everyone shocked to see him out of his office. Molly firmly kept her mouth closed, knowing she had no case if she attempted to tattle one me to Aries. "Anyway, the lost prince has been found, there will be a ball held in his honour in exactly a week. I have invitations for myself, the beta and gamma as well as their mates to attend."

"No way!" Ricky replied, utterly shocked. "I thought the Prince was as good as dead by now."

"Apparently not so be prepared to enter royal grounds," Aries told us and left.

The lost prince has been found?
