In the dimly lit office, Kedan found himself interrupted from his contemplation by the announcement of an unexpected visitor. His thoughts, entangled with the complexities of his past actions, shifted from reflections on Ella to a matter concerning his mother. Distaste lingered for what had transpired four months ago, yet his loyalty to his mother was unwavering. The resolve to divorce Ella and secure full custody of their child crystallized within him.

"Kedan," the assistant approached, her eyes glinting with a cautious demeanor.

"What?" he barked, causing a jump in her composure.

"Someone is here to see you," she reported, her posture straightening.

"I am busy," he muttered dismissively. Minutes later, she returned, accompanied by Ella, who, despite her changed physical appearance, retained a captivating beauty.

"May I be alone with him, please?" Ella requested, her tone carrying a palpable tension.

"Okay," the assistant acquiesced, leaving the room with a bowed head.

"Why are you here?" Kedan inquired, his gaze assessing Ella's swollen figure.

"Do I need an invitation to visit my husband?" she chuckled, an air of nonchalance cloaking her words.

"The last time I checked, you don't live at my home, and I wasn't aware that you were working."

"I got a job, and I did leave your place."

"Which hospital?" he asked, glancing at her doctor's ID.

"Joipl Hytern Hospital," she responded.

"You've improved on making small conversation," he noted, forcing a small smile.

"Am trying here," she replied.

"Okay," Ella took a breath. "I want you to sign these papers."

"Which papers?" he asked, already anticipating the answer.

"Divorce papers, Kedan. I need a divorce," she stated with determination.

"Great, I thought I would be the one divorcing you," he remarked calmly, though a subtle disappointment flickered within him.

"Here," she handed him the documents.

"Where must I sign?" he asked, already aware of the answer.

"Stop," she said, holding his hands. "Kedan, are you really not going to fight?" she pleaded, rubbing her gut. "For this four-month-old child inside me, Kedan, for our family."

"Why should I?" he leaned back, flicking the pen and meeting her pleading gaze.

"Oh," she paused. "So, do you want this child to become fatherless?" The question startled him.

"Who said I'm not going to take full custody of this child?" he retorted.

"Who said I'm going to give this up?" she challenged.

"You have to because I've influenced almost every lawyer in California," he lied.

"Oh, please."

"And evidence could be used against you."

"Evidence? Talking about evidence, you hit me, Kedan. I could use that against you."

"Do you have the evidence?"

"Yeah, forget about that."

"But you're right, and I'm so, so, so sorry for hitting you. Forgive me, my dear beautiful wife." He walked towards her, whispering, "I didn't like what you said about my mother. And, Ella, my honey-sweet pie." He kissed her hand. "Move in with me again."

"Seriously, Kedan?" she said, attempting to conceal the effects of his closeness.

"Way to take a compliment."

"Oops, I didn't see that coming."

"Anyway, would you?" he asked.

"Umm, Kedan."

"Please," he pouted.

"Okay, fine, under one circumstance," she agreed.

"What?" he humbly asked.

"No more cheating, Kedan. I'm tired," she asserted.

"Okay," he replied, the agreement overshadowed by the impact of her proximity. He gazed at her figure for a brief moment, awestruck by her beauty, a force compelling him to momentarily abandon the demands of work. Succumbing to the magnetic pull, he pressed his lips to hers, reigniting a familiar passion. The exchange became a dance of intertwined tongues, a conflict and connection mirroring the complexities of their relationship. Like rivals unwilling to concede, they lingered, each vying for dominance, their desperate struggle echoing a tumultuous history.
