The recording studio was exciting to say the least. They got a limo all the way from their hotel to the studio which was about a fifteen minute drive. The vehicle provided a ton of beverages and comfort, but most importantly, a ton of candy! Pidge had brought a bag, taking handfuls of candy and chocolate and stashing them for later. They ate as much as they could before they arrived.
The studio was huge, and Altea supported multiple upcoming and prospering artist of all cultures. They got to meet lots of new people as well as people they had seen on TVs and heard on radios before. It was such a unique yet nostalgic feeling to Keith ad he couldn't help but smile goofily the whole day.
When they got into their booth it had a huge variety of instruments to mess around with. Outside the recording section of the booth there were strangely shaped couches and a weird coffee table, but the most eye catching feature was the two meter long set of buttons Keith had never seen in his life except for movies. He couldn't help but get excited like a schoolgirl when he saw the equipment.
Lance smiled, collapsing onto the weird pink sofa, Hunk taking a sea opposite him on an orange armchair while Keith and Pidge went to look around the buttons. The glass gave you a view of the variety of instruments. Keith could remember how to play a vast majority of the instruments displayed, each of them edging him closer to the verge of fanboying. Pidge seemed just as intrigued, her hands at the edge of the board that contained the instruments. As she leaned forward, she accidentally hit a blue button. She shrieked as it beep, latching onto Keith's arm as they watched in terror. They were relieved yet underwhelmed and disappointed when they only heard a faint click from the right side of the room. They looked to their right to see the door leading into the recording booth slightly ajar. They exchanged mischievous looks before ushering themselves inside. Pidge nudged in first, giggling as she grasped an electric guitar and wrapping the strap around her shoulder. Keith smiled and sat behind the drums. Keith began to smack the drums in some for of rhythm, taking full advantage of the soundproof rooms. Pidge grinned and struck the strings of the guitar. She frowned when little noise came out. Keith laughed.
"The amp!" He yelled over his own playing.
Pidge's mouth formed an 'O', mouthing a "Right." before hooking the guitar up to the amplifier before switching it on. She then struck the strings again, cackling when the room erupted in a shriek of the guitar. She began plucking a tune, Keith following up in some way that made it some somewhat pleasant to listen to. They exchanged a smile before Pidge dropped her guitar, unplugging the amplifier and setting the guitar on a rack. Keith dropped the drumsticks on the top of the stool before going to search through the instruments.
"What's this?" Pidge asked, picking up a wooden plank with a variety of metal bars on it.
"It's a kalimba, it's pretty easy to play." Keith spoke, making his way over to Pidge. He grabbed her fingers and plucked bar after bar with her finger. She grinned as she recognized the tune, eventually able to play the short melody on her own.
"you really like this song, hm?" She hummed, continuing to play the Elvis song.
Keith smiled and hummed along to the song. "My father liked Elvis a lot, I kinda did too... but he loved this song. Among many others he loved this was his favorite."
Pidge nodded with a small smile, halting her playing to search for another instrument to play with. She grinned as she rushed over to a section of brass instruments.
"A tuba!" She cried, placing her lips inside the instrument and playing the tuba surprisingly well. Keith smiled as she danced along to her playing, eventually stopping the song and shaking her hands and she whispered, "Jazz hands~"
"Where did you learn how to play that?" Keith laughed as she set the tuba down. She was panting to get her breath back.
"My parents liked it, made me learn it. They made Matt learn the violin and me the piano, I gave up though." Pidge laughed.
"Guys, come in here!"
Pidge and Keith rushed inside to be greeted with a happy ginger man.
"Coran!" Pidge cheered, rushing over to embrace Coran. Coran gave a cheery greeting, saying hello to everyone and congratulating them before he clapped his hands, a determined glint in his eyes.
"Alright paladins. We have one month to record out songs, another to get choreography down and then a month and a half to record videos. A bit more time due to our new member-" He gestured to Keith earning a smile from the band, "-but we have to work hard despite that. Allura will be doing checkups every week and she'll even be dropping by to see us at eh end of the week. So work hard and don't get sick. If you do we'll lose lots of money!"
The whole team cheered, throwing their fists into the air with a cry of determination. Keith was nervous, of course, but his music had been approved by writers and producers years ago. There was very little to worry about, if anything. So Keith slipped on a smile and sat around the coffee table, sitting on a green stool, and discussed the band's next move.
Finally the book is actually developing a stable plot again haha
