"How could we not?" Austin answered. "Brandon talks a- oof, ow! That hurt." He scalded Zion as he held the side of his stomach.
Zion continued for him, "What he meant to say before he suddenly felt pain in his lower abdomen for some unknown reason, is that we'll never forget the name of the girl who Brandon practically scarred."
"I destroyed her phone, not her life." Brandon nudged Zion.
"Actually, some people's phones are their life." Nick corrected from the driver's seat.
Man has a point.
"That obviously applies to you." Austin commented.
Again, man has a point.
While the four kept bickering, Edwin just guffawed at their silliness and said to me, "We didn't mean to scare you by the way, sorry about that and about them." He pointed to them all.
"It's okay, you didn't mean to. And I actually find this quite entertaining." I laughed.
Edwin shifted in his seat a bit and ran his hand through his dark brown curls before asking, "So how's your...friend?"
Confusion took over me for a short second, wondering as to who he was referring to and then I realised that he was talking about Kayla.
"Oh- Kayla? She's okay, and she's really sorry about - well you know what. Even though she didn't say it to you then, she still feels really guilty." I felt the need to speak up for Kayla because she made the worst impression on him.
Though she would be very happy to hear that Edwin actually asked about her. Even though I saw him sort of cringe when I said her name.
Changing the subject, Edwin pointed out my brother behind me, who was clearly still struggling with carrying the bag in his hands. "Hey who's this little dude?"
By that time, the rest of the band made peace and was now taking an interest in Matt.
"This is my brother Matthew," I introduced. "Matt, you already know Brandon. These are his friends-"
"Edwin, Austin, Nick and Zion," he listed off. Then you looked at me and deadpanned, "You talk about them too much."
I could feel the blood rushing through the back of my neck to my ears. I turned to my brother in a way that the guys wouldn't see the scariest death glare pointed towards Matthew.
Everyone else, however was laughing, except for Brandon - but even he was resisting the urge not to laugh. He tried to comfort me with a smile but it just made me feel more embarrassed.
"Aw, it's fine Beth, really." It really wasn't but I didn't protest. "Are you guys on your way home?"
"Yeah." I responded.
"We won't be there anytime soon. My arms hurt Beth. Can we take another break?" Matthew whined as he dropped his bag.
"We can give you guys a lift if you want." Brandon offered.
"Well I'm sure that's what he wants." Zion inconspicuously whispered to Austin.
My eyebrows furrowed in confusion but before I could question Zion on what he meant by that, my brother answered eagerly to Brandon's offer. "Yes please!"
"Wait, what? No!" I nudged Matt. "It's okay. We can walk. You don't have to detour for us."
Yes, I know I'm turning down a ride from the PrettyMuch. What? An offer like that won't stop me from being a considerate person.
"Pleeeeeease Beth." Matthew tugged on my sleeve and looked at me with pleading eyes.
I looked up at the guys as I was thinking of a decision.
