“I’m great. I’m pretty hung over though. Lily and I went to another crazy frat party yesterday,” he began to say as I texted Harry letting him know I was already here.
“Well, that’s great. I hope you had fun; although, I’m sure you both did. Lily is still passed out now. I don’t even know how it’s possible for you guys to party as much as you do. I’m surprised you haven’t gotten sick of it.”
"Yeah, I actually made a new friend. I don’t necessarily remember his name since I was already pretty drunk but I do remember that he’s a transfer student from NYU. He says he lived here before starting college, then moved to New York with his girlfriend, but they broke up, so he moved back, but isn’t sure that he'll stay here at USC because he's nervous or something."
"Oh, that’s nice Hunter; I know how difficult it is for you to make new friends, and well I," I began to say sarcastically but he cut me off.
"Hey, don’t be mean!"
"Haha. I know, I’m kidding! Gosh Hunter, can’t you take a joke! Anyway, how is it that you were too drunk to remember his name but you remember all of this other stuff about him, and why would he even be nervous? It’s not like this school is any more intimidating than NYU."
"Well he said something about his ex girlfriend going to this school, and apparently things didn’t end on good terms. He didn’t say much about that, but apparently she wouldn’t even talk to him, so he doesn’t know how she'll react to him being here. He doesn’t think things will go well, and so he may end up transferring elsewhere."
"Well, that’s his fault, but it does suck. I’m almost positive that he's going to end up transferring out, but until then, I guess it’s nice of you to be friends with him; even though, it would most likely be wise of you to learn his name. I don’t know, just a suggestion. "
"Shut up. Look the whole point of me telling you this, is because he’s coming over right now. Mostly so he could meet you guys since he has no friends; and I thought maybe we could be kind to him, at least until he makes more friends."
"More like until he transfers out, but uh, alright. I guess we could meet him," I began to say but was interrupted by Harry.
"Hey, Melanie," he yelled from his dorm room.
"Yeah babe?"
"Could you come in here for a sec?"
"Yeah, I’ll be right there."
I got up from my seat on the comfy couch to go to Harry's room, but first finished my comment to Hunter.
"Okay well, I was saying? let us know when he gets here I guess. But you should know we are leaving soon, so we may not even meet him today." I began to walk away, then stopped and turned to Hunter once more. "Oh, and just shoot me a text or something, cause I have no idea what Harry wants, but I’m sure he wouldn’t be too happy if you went and knocked on the door to tell us he’s here."
"Alright, will do, but Melanie, you and I both know what Harry wants."
"Shut up Hunter!" I yelled from Harry's door as I opened it and walked right in.
"Hey babe, what’s up? Umm why are the lights off?" I questioned as I reached for the light switch but he quickly stopped me.
"Close your eyes."
"Why? Harry what are yo-"
"Just do it,"
“Okay,” I said as he placed his arms around my waist from behind me.
"Happy birthday!"
"Baby, my birthday isn’t for another four months..."
"I know, umm well then, Merry Christmas!"
