LIGHTS OUT!

"Shes what!" Eddie Kaspbrak shouted through the telephone that early afternoon. This was the worst news that he had heard in his entire life. He felt as if a bomb went off, the toxic smoke coating his lungs. He could barely hear Bill through the phone, explaining that he and Bev went to check on her. Only to find that she was gone. He missed the part where he explained that Bev went home to grab some supplies and never return.

"It took her Eddie, okay? Her and Bev. Come on meet us at the church," Bills voice sounded through the phone. He sounded desperate and scared. Eddie contemplated for a moment. This was Veronica. He couldn't just leave her in that things clutches.

"Okay. Im coming." The Kaspbrak boy put down the phone and rubbed his tired face. He could not believe he was about to do this. Broken arm and all. His brown eyes scanned the surrounded area, his mother nowhere in sight. With a sigh he headed for the door hoping his mom wouldn't suddenly appear and try to stop him.

Too late.

"And just where do you thing you're off to?" Sonya's voice boomed into the boys ears. He froze, panic rising in his chest. He turned to face his mom.

"Out with my friends," he told her sternly. Maybe if he didn't act afraid, his mother wouldn't seem so large.

"Sweetie, you can't go. You're getting over your sickness, remember?" His mother insisted. Eddie scowled. He felt fine. His arm didn't throb anymore. He thought about what Greta said. His medicine wasn't even real. It was just some empty pill to keep him in the house.

"My sickness? Ok, what, what sickness, Ma?" Eddie asked his hands reaching into his fanny pack . "Do you know what these are?" Eddies mom nodded slightly, waiting to see where he was going with this. "They're 'gazebos' They're bullshit!" He yelled slamming the bottle of pills on the ground. His mother's face turned red in anger.

"They help you, Eddie. I had to protect you." The boy furiously shook his head at his mom. He couldn't believe he fell for her trap all these years.

"Protect me? By lying to me and keeping me locked inside of this hell-hole?" Eddie spat. "Im sorry but the only people trying to protect me are my friends. And you made me turn my back when I really needed them. So I'm going."

"Eddie." Mrs. Kaspbrak tried to tell her son, almost pleading.

"No." He pushed past her.

"You get right back here. -" She yelled, but made no effort to stop him.

"I'm going to see my friends." The boy opened the door and stepped outside. His mother still called for him.

"Eddie. Don't do this to me, Eddie" she shrieked. He grabbed his bike from his garage and rode off ignoring his mother's calls.

Eddie pedaled as fast as he could to the church that rested on the corner of neibolt street. Veronica I'm coming, hang on.

The familiar but uncomfortable smell of rotting flesh and sewage singed Veronica's nose. She groaned, feeling a throbbing pain in her shoulder. She blinked slowly, trying to take in her surroundings. It was dark and damp. She could hear water dripping and dull thuds from somewhere across the room. Piles of junk littered the room. Kids shoes, dolls, and coats.

She sat up from the hard ground, and swallowed nervously. She was wearing a black tank top and pair of plaid pants. Her pajamas from the previous night. She glanced to her left and noticed Beverly Marsh lay beside her. Her eyes widened as the girl lay unconscious. The only sense of life being the small rise and fall of her chest.

"Bev, Bev." Veronica shook the girl panic bubbling in her throat. She flinched slightly as the action made pain shot up her arms. The redhead hummed a response. "Come on, get up im scared." Groggily, and slowly, the Marsh girl sat up.

"Veroinca?" She asked her eyes widening. She was unsure if she was having a terrible dream, or if this was in fact real.

"Yeah?" The brunette murmured to the girl. She sat criss-cross on the damp ground. Her hands folded together in front of her. Bev could tell she was scared from the slight tremor of her hands.

"Whats going on?" She asked. Veronica shurgged looking around once more. She was trying to remain calm, but inside she wanted to cry. There was a faint light glowing just enough for her to see the piles of toys and belongings in front of her. Her heart rate sped up as she sat on the ground. Her ears pricked up, circus music was playing lightly though, every second it got louder. She looked at Bev.

"Bev do you hear that!?" The girl nodded. She felt dizzy, like someone had punched her in the head repeatedly. She stood up, offering Bev her hand. Her brown eyes spotted a ladder in the dim light. She pointed at it.

When they tried to walk they almost fell over. Both girls clung to each other as they made their way to a ladder. Veronica's heart was in her throat as she hoisted herself up on the first rung. Bev hot on her heels.

Before they made it completely a door opened revealing Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Its face was painted with a large cruel smile.

The two exchanged a glance before grabbing another rung. Pennywise jumped forward and grabbed Bev, strangling her. Veronica screamed, falling off the ladder.

"Im not afraid of you." Bev spat. Pennywise frowned, before leaning forward and sniffing Bev. He growled realizing she wasn't afraid.

Bev wasn't afraid anymore. Her biggest fear was always her father. But not anymore. When she stopped at home to get supplies to help find Veronica, Bev's father stopped her. This led to a fight and Pennywise snatching her as well. During the fight she stood up to him, all fear leaving her.

"You will be," It growled. Its mouth opened, its jaw unhinging, showing its soul, the dead lights. No sound came from Bev. She floated through the air. Veronica's eyes widen. Surely the redhead wasn't dead!

"Your turn Ronnie," It spat coming at Veronica. She cowered in the corner It grabbed the girls neck as well doing the same thing it did to Bev. She let out a disgruntled sob. Veronica wasn't brave like Bev. Although she had stood up to Henry, the clown was much more terrifying. Veronica was afraid while Bev wasn't.
