Ten minutes more. You can do this Jen, Jen thought to herself. She looked at herself in the mirror again. She was wearing her favourite neon blue shirt along with her favourite pair of torn jeans. She had put on some eyeliner and had tied her hair up in a messy bun. She looked at the mirror and winked.
God, I'm so cringy, she thought to herself.
Who are you kidding, Jen? This is not a date!, she thought.
She just shrugged and waited for the 10 minutes to pass.
-------------------"So where are we going again?", Jen asked.
"It's a surprise.', Sean said.
He looked cuter than ever. He was wearing a black shirt and a pair of faded jeans with a Yankees cap pulled over his messy hair. The cap hid his eyes.
Please don't torture me like this, Sean, Jen thought to herself. Both of them walked silently. The was almost setting.
"Uhm..umm", Sean started.
"You wanna say something?", Jen asked.
"Uhh...yeah...you look really nice today.", he said and pulled his cap down even lower.
Jen was taken aback. She laughed and thanked him.
"So you mean I don't look that good every single other day?", she teased.
"No! No! I didn't mean it in that way!"
"So I do look pretty other days too", she teased him further.
"Uhh umm yeah you do... I mean uh.. I'm...yeah"
Jen laughed and pulled off Sean's cap, revealing his green eyes.
He smiled and tried to snatch it back from her. She ran further, with Sean right behind her. She waved the cap in the air and started running backwards.
"You little....", Sean said with a grin and started chasing her. He quickly caught up with her and snatched the cap.
He did not put it on his head. He put it on Jen's head.
"Wow! It looks good on you!", he said.
"Thanks!", Jen said.
For a moment, their eyes met. Sean stared into her ocean blue eyes and Jen stared into his olive green eyes.
At the same moment, both of them averted their eyes and just continued walking. After a good ten minutes, they reached an abandoned park. It was a place located between the forest and the town. It was beautiful.
An old tree stood overlooking a tiny cliff. There was nothing in the park except for a set of swings. Jen went into the park. She felt soft sand under her shoes. She immediately removed her shoes to let her foot soak the pleasure of the soft sand under it.She grinned at Sean who smiled back at her. He went and sat near the edge of the cliff and beckoned for her to sit beside him.
Jen's heart was beating fast. She was normally afraid of heights but Sean gave her some kind of courage which made her go, sit there.
The sun had almost set and the stars had started twinkling.
"Beautiful.", Jen said.
Sean looked at her. "Beautiful", he muttered. Jen looked at him and grinned.
"I was talking about the sunset.", she said.
"Ohh! Um yeah! Me too!", he nodded vigorously. Jen laughed and ruffled his hair. He gave her a wide grin. She smiled back at him.The both of them got lost in the beauty of the sunset. Together.
