Luna was really not feeling okay, the sick feeling in her stomach never fading as she fidgeted throughout the entire decathlon. At one point, both Mia and Liz held each of her hands in an effort to calm the girl, and to be fair, it worked. But only for the remainder of the time spent sitting there, because as soon as they stepped out of the hall with the winning team, Luna was back to fiddling with her bag, eager to get her phone back to check if any calls came through.
Luna's head snapped up as she was nudged, Mia frowning at her. "This is taking too long to turn on," Luna mumbled bitterly, staring at the lit up screen of her phone. She failed to notice how far she had been trailing behind, the rest of the team already making their way into the Washington Monument.
Mia sighed, throwing her arm around Luna. "He'll turn up, and he'll be okay, I promise." Mia managed to get a small smile out of the girl. "Now, you coming up with us? Liz is staying down here with Michelle because she's scared, so I could really use the company up there."
Glancing down at her still not turned on phone, Luna sighed. "Fine, I guess I'll join." Mia grinned, hooking arms with the girl before breaking into a jog to catch up with the rest of the team. Thankfully, they stayed waiting for the two girls, Mia immediately detaching herself from Luna once they regrouped.
Luna frowned, eyes looking around the crowded room, before landing on Ned. Her eyebrows furrowed as he was speaking into his phone quietly, cautiously looking around him. Without thinking, she rushed towards him, the boy visibly stiffening when she stood in front of him. She didn't get the chance to question him, her question being answered when he whispered, "Yeah, she's fine, she's right in front of me."
Her eyes widened as realization set in, and she didn't hesitate to take the phone from his hand. "Peter?"
"Luna, hey. Can you put Ned back on?"
She let out a scoff, "Are you serious? Peter, where the hell are you? Are you okay?"
"Luna, please, I have to talk to Ned, put him back on."
She opened her mouth, prepared to shoot back a snarky remark, but was interrupted as security instructed her to put her belongings on the belt. "You just wait till you get back, Peter," she warned, before hanging up, placing the phone on the belt as well as her bag. She let out a huff as she rejoined the group, arms crossed over her chest.
"Hey, Mr.Harrington, can I be the one to tell Peter he's expelled?"
"Shut up, Flash," she mumbled, rolling her eyes as the boy shot her a smirk. All the worry she harbored for the missing boy was now replaced with frustration. She spent all morning concerned about his wellbeing, and when she finally gets the chance to calm down her anxiety, he refuses to speak to her. She couldn't help but glance at Ned, curious as to what Peter deemed so important to tell him that he disregarded all her questions.
