Jennifer:

Mrs Johnson was a very nice woman. I listened as she hummed some Janet Jackson songs while she finished making us breakfast. I offered to help but she insisted we just wait for our food. So I sat by the kitchen island with Zara to my left, tapping away at her phone. She lifted it in the air with one hand to take a picture, Asha and Gus immediately rushing in to feature in the background.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"It's for the Gram,"

"The Gram?"

"Instagram! You have to follow me," she started re-positioning her camera, I assume for better lighting.

"I'm not on there," I said.

"Twitter?"

"Nope."

"Facebook?"

"Nuh uh."

"Tumblr?"

"Negative."

"Snapchat?"

"Niet."

She put her phone face down on the counter and stared at me with an exasperated expression on her face. "Well then what's your phone for?" she yelled.

"I don't know, so they can locate my body when my serial killer dumps me in a ditch?" I laughed at my lame joke. Zara just shook her head and I think I saw Mrs Johnson raise an eyebrow.

Mrs Johnson started plating up the food; scrambled eggs, mushrooms, pork sausages and toast. Asha poured all of us a cup of coffee from their fancy coffee maker. A proper breakfast.

Everyone came near the kitchen island and pulled up a seat. The seat next to me was occupied by none other than Trevor. It's thanks to him that I had actually bothered to put on a cute pair of denim super short shorts and put my hair in a sleek high pony tail as opposed to skinny jeans and a messy bun.

"Hey," he said, giving me that dynamite smile.

"Hi," I smile back, although I'm not sure my smile was as dazzling as his.

We'd taken up all of the bar stools so Mrs Johnson wound up have to lean on the counter, lightly sipping her coffee. I giggled to myself when I realized that was the exact same spot where Trevor and I had made out. He must have noticed too because he laughed a little.

"Care to share the joke?" asked Zara.

"No joke. I'm just enjoying, this..." I waved my fork around gesturing at my plate. "I have to say you're quite the cook Mrs Johnson."

"I try," she smiled into her cup of coffee.

The gang started discussing what to do for the day since we had the whole Saturday free. Obviously no one wanted to spend it slumped on the couch all day, which is what I usually did. Derrick suggested we go to the local water park. Just then, Zara's phone beeped, indicating a text had come through. She looked at her screen.

"Okay guys, even better idea. Water park during the day, then later we hit Sean's house. There's a party there tonight and you know those are always epic,"

"Ma can we go?" Asha asked, trying to pull a puppy dog face that sorta made her look constipated. We all laughed.

"To the water park yes. But I'm not okay with you going to that party,"

"Ma please, I'm sure everyone in our class is going. I promise I'll come home early and we'll even take our own drinks. I won't do anything stupid."
