Decided to change the story so it's going to be written in third person from now on.

"Do you even like coffee?" Calum asks her as they both walk into the scented coffee shop. "Because I just kind of assumed you did. Wait, who even drinks coffee at this time of night?" He was about to continue his little ramble session when he was cut off by Madison's soft giggle. He stops and looks at her, an amused expression on his face. "What?"

"You're rambling. It's kind of cute." This makes Calum snort and look in front of them. "And actually, I kind of hate coffee. No one drinks coffee at midnight by the way." She smiles up at him before looking up at the themed menu hanging up. "Let's get hot chocolate. Well, I want hot chocolate." She shrugs.

"I'm already learning things about you - you hate coffe, you like hot chocolate, and you think I'm cute." He says the last part teasingly and it's Madison's turn to snort.

"I said your rambling is kind of cute, Calum, there's a difference."

"Are you American?" Calum asks suddenly, changing the subject.

"You're just now realizing this?" She asks sassily.

"Well, in my defense, you've just started saying actual sentences five minutes ago." He shrugs. Before she can respond, a very tired looking woman comes from the back.

"Sorry, I didn't notice you guys came in." She sighs, standing in front of the cash register. "What would you like?"

"Two hot chocolates, please." Calum says politely, surprising Madison.

"Woah, you can actually be polite." She jokes, making Calum nudge her in the stomach. She lets out a laugh, hunching over. "That tickled." She hisses, furiously trying to hide her smile.

"Cute couple." The lady compliments as she hands us the hot cups. A blush creeps up both their cheeks, but they say nothing as they walk to a table.

"So what happened at La Casa de Mads?" Calum asks after a few minutes of them silently sipping.

"My parents are rich assholes." She finally responds after pondering over the question.

"That's great detail." He teases. She sighs in defeat before going into detail about the events that occured just a few hours ago in her house.

"I wanted my dad to take me to a father-daughter dance thing, but he said he couldn't because of some meeting he had to go to that day." She slumps back in her seat. "I guess I was okay with that, but then the dick had the nerve to try and pay me to make me feel better. They always do that. They think money can solve everything, but it can't. They've neglected me and my younger brother, Chase, pratically our whole lives. I pretty much raised myself and Chase. Poor Chase, he's only eleven." Madison lets out a sad sigh. She hadn't noticed she was crying until Calum reached over and swiped her cheek lightly. She breathes out a humorless laugh, wiping the rest of her face. "Sorry."

"Don't be sorry, love." He gives her a small smile. "It's okay."
