Waking up:
I woke up. I looked at the clock and it said ‪6.30am‬. I usually didn't wake up this early. Next to me laid my beautiful wife, Cheryl. She was still sleeping, she always slept in. It didn't bother me at all it just meant that I got a few hours of silence before going back to reality. Don't get me wrong I love my life. It's just as soon as she wakes up all responsibilities becomes true. We need to cook, clean, pay our bills. Everything you have to do when you own a house. But besides all of that our life was amazing. We had gotten married at a young age. On January 15th 5 years ago we had just been laying in bed not doing anything at all. Cheryl had looked at me for the millionth time and I had asked her why. She looked me deeply in my eyes and said 'lets get married'. I had just chuckled, I thought she was joking. But she wasn't, later that night we had gotten married. We eloped.
Now 5 years later we were 22 and living in our own house. We were both so happy. Neither one of us had had a good childhood. But now, now we were finally happy with each other. One reason why we had gotten married in the first place was because no one thought we would last. I was the queen of the Southside and she was the queen of the Northside, we were total opposites. But we had proved them wrong. We had gotten our lives together, we started working earned some money and bought a house 2 years ago. Before that we had been married and living in a small apartment. We have come a long way from that. She was beautiful my wife, she really was. The hardest thing when we met was winning her over. Cheryl, like I said, was the queen of her school. Everyone adored her, everyone wanted to date her. I never thought I had a chance. Looking back I don't know why I thought so. When we had met we spent everyday together, we both loved each others company. When we got together we both knew it would be us forever. But I was still worried, what if I wasn't good enough for her. Correction, I wasn't good enough for her. I had never been. But it was still her and me, it was still us. I decided to walk downstairs and start with breakfast, Cheryl didn't seem like she was waking up any time soon. I put on some coffee and took out a package of pancake mix. I made pancakes and then I walked upstairs again and laid down next to Cheryl again. I carefully blew some air on her face. She opened her eyes and turned around to face me.
"Morning beautiful"
"Morning Toni"
"I made breakfast"
"I smell coffee and pancakes"
"Lets go downstairs"
The silence in our house broke. In to our room ran our 3 years old daughter. Her name is Ida, we adopted her a year ago. She was the light of our lives.
"Mommies, I want food"
"Well I have made pancakes"
"I love pancakes!"
"Lets go downstairs, Cheryl you comin?"
"Yeah in a second"
We walked downstairs and ate breakfast. Our perfect family.
