The more I tried to remember it seemed the more I'd forget and my eyes squinted as I continued to try.

My thoughts were interrupted when the door opened and in walked Maddie, happily holding a bouquet of what looked like pink lillies.

And she immediately went off.

"Can you believe that Donatello went back to fuckin' Italy while you're going through this?" I had a feeling this wasn't quite about me, but she continued on after she sat the flowers down on the coffee table in front of the bed and paced. "He doesn't know if you're going to die," my eyes widended at the idea. "And did he even bother to ask you? No."

Ask me if I'm going to die?

"Why would Donatello go back to Italy?" I questioned, disregarding her words.

"Some bartender hit him up," her head shook, frantically and her hands went to her hips. " Why do guys have to be such idiots? --  Hi, Dante."

She broke away from her anger for the slightest second and Dante responded with an awkward, tight-lipped smile and a small wave.

She released a deep sigh and continued to pace while I was at a lost for words. Donatello just up and leaving? That didn't make much sense.

"You know what, I'm going to tell him he can stay in Italy," she pulled her phone out from her back pocket and tapping at the screen. " Dante, how do you say fuck you in Italian?"

"Listen, Maddie, I'm sure what ever reason he had to go back was an important one," Dante tried to reassure her. "He'll be back soon. I happen to know he feels quite strongly for you."

"He said he'd be back soon, but he could have atleast told me in person rather than via text."

"Che palle, Don," Dante shook his head in disapproval as his hand went to the bridge of his nose. " He's not the brightest when it comes to relationships and for that I apologize. But don't you want to know how Ariella is doing?"

Her eyes then went to me and I gave her the same awkward smile that Dante had. "Of course. How are you doing?"

"Well, I feel a lot better than I did before. I just can't seem to remember how I.." I went to try and retrieve my memory again, only to give up when I couldn't.

"It's okay, we all have those moments," she turned around and picked up the flowers before walking them closer to me. "These are for you, from Donatello and I," she rolled her eyes at his name then quickly smiled as she sat them next to the bed.

"Thank you, Maddie," I gave a small giggle and smiled. She plopped down in the seat next to it, comfortably.

"If you want me to stay here with you, I can," she shrugged. "Afterall, my palm pilot says I ain't got shit to do."

"You don't have to stay here, I think I'll be able to go home soon, anyways," I lied. I had no idea when I was going to be able to go home or what was actually wrong. Did I break something? Am I suffering short term memory loss?

"Home?" Dante questioned me as though I really had become Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.

There's no place like home!

But I knew what he meant. Noticing my memory had faded, he probably figured I meant my apartment. Which I hadn't really been in for a while now.

"Home," I repeated, smiling at him. He understood what my smile meant and then his returned as I gave his warm hand a small squeeze.

He eased up ever-so-slightly to plant a gentle, yet passionate kiss on my lips. I returned it with the same fervor as his lips mingled with mine, slowly.

I heard a "mm" come from Maddie's end and I tried to beckon myself to stop, but with each time we parted, Dante just swooped in again. Until sadly, the kiss was over, when the door to the room opened, although, his lips lingered on mine for a few seconds longer. I was caught in a lust-filled daze and the fact that he still hadn't moved made me think I had heard the clicking of the doorknob in my head.

I watched as Dante tongue darted out and traced his lips slowly in a trance-like tease. My breathing increased and I tried to keep my body at ease, but to little avail.

That was when I heard a voice.

"I'm sorry, am I interrupting something?"

Dante's eyes looked away and I instantly missed them. However, when my eyes met the doctor in a white lab coat eyeing us, I blushed and gazed down.

"Ahh, not at all." Dante's voice was suddenly coated with his rough Italian accent as he straightened his tie and took a seat. He looked flushed and the obvious giveaway only increased my blushing.

"Don't worry, homegirl," Maddie leaned in and did what must of been her version of whispering. "At least one of us is getting some."

Oh my God.

The doctor laughed at Maddie's remark and smiled at her in which she smiled back. I swear if she ruins my-

What was that word Rachel had used?

What ever. Her and Donatello were already meant in my mind and she was not going to mess that up. He didn't even seem like her type. He looked rather short with black hair, that was obviously thinning with age. His accent and facial features would lead me to believe he's of Columbian decent. His name tag read Edgar and his muscular build flexed as he held his clipboard close. But still, he was no Donatello.

I did a suttle cough to snap them away from their stares and his attention finally went back to me. "Oh, sorry, Ms. Faure," he blinked and shifted the clipboard to his hands as he looked at it. "So, I got your MRI scan results back and I have good news and a possibility of more depending on how you see it," he smiled excitedly.

How I see what?

"Which would you like first?"

I shifted uneasily. "Uhm, the good news. "

"All right, so according to the scan your ribs are not broken, they're merely brused and you're looking at only a short heel time of three to six weeks."

I nodded in relief. Maybe this wouldn't be that bad, except for the fact that I can't take a deep breath for quite some time unless I want to bawl  over in pain.

"What's the possibility of good news?" Dante asked with his hand covering his chin as he leaned back.

Maddie simply watched intently and it almost made me want to laugh. Another thing I can't do for a few weeks as well.

"Well.." Doctor Ramirez started hesitantly, trying to hide his smile as his chest puffed up. His lips were parted, but he stretched the silence. Releasing his deep breath and holding the board close to him again he finally spoke in a rushed tone. "Based on your scan, it appears you are in the early stages of pregnancy."

And I thought my mind was drawing a blank before.
