I drove home after spending the day at Luke's and even though we had been away from each other for less than 20 minutes he phoned me instantly. We'd been on the phone for about 2 hours talking about loads of random stuff and getting to know some facts about each other.

"What's your favourite animal?" I asked, since we were playing twenty one questions.

"A penguin because they are so fricken' cute!" He sounded so excited to talk about them which made me giggle. Our conversation came to a halt when I heard a slight knock on my door.

"Lexie? Can we talk?" My mum opened my bedroom door slightly.

"Uh..I have to go, talk to you later." I said quickly into my phone, he replied saying a simple ok and I hung up.

"What?" My words came out a little harsh because I was having fun talking to Luke and she never spoke about anything interesting with me so I wanted to get this conversation over with.

"Who were you just talking to?" She sounded interested and desperate for an answer but I had no idea why.

"Uh my friend Luke, why?" I didn't understand why she needed to know.

"You sounded happy when I was listening to a bit of your conversation...no ones being mean at your new school then?" She sounded concerned.

"No I have friends now who are great and no ones being horrible..are we done now?" I was a little hasty because I wanted to carry on my conversation with Luke.

"Are you gunna tell me more about this Luke kid?" She asked with a smile on her face.

"Mum he's just a friend.."

"And you were just doing homework with him out of school during school hours..?"

"Uh yeah..wait how did you know tha-"

"The school phoned me asking if you were at home because you kept missing classes and they mentioned a boy called Luke had been missing lessons the same times as you. Lexie, you've only just arrived at this school so do you care to explain?" She had a stern look on her face and her arms crossed. I swallowed the lump in my throat and began to explain myself.

"Me and Luke are quite close and there has been quite a lot of drama these past few days so we just needed a time out.." I had no idea how to discuss this with her without letting my private life stuff slip.

"Close? What do you mean by that? You've known this kid a few days and he's already getting you into trouble and affecting your education!" She raised her voice which caused me to sit back a bit.

"I don't know mum we both have some kind of connection I don't know...and he's not ruining my education I can make my own decisions."

"Lexie...I know your at that age for making mistakes like falling in love but please don't mess up your future." She sounded way too serious and I couldn't actually believe what I was hearing.

"Wait falling in love is classed as a mistake?" Obviously I wasn't in love with Luke because we haven't known each other for long but she's making it sound that way.

"What your generation class as love yes."

"I can't believe your saying this." I stood up and barged past her. "I'm going out I don't want to talk anymore."

"Going where?"

"None of your business." I yelled already running down the stairs.

"I'm your mother of course it's my business!"

"I can look after myself! I've had enough!" I slammed the door behind me and sped to my car. I don't know why I got so worked up about it but it annoyed me.

I started to drive not aware of where I was heading but my mind drove me straight to Luke's. By now there were tears down my cheeks...why was I getting so emotional about this?

I didn't want to go to the door incase Liz was there so I decided to ring him up and after a few rings he answered.

"Hey, Lex!" I sniffled which made him realise I was crying. "Babe what's wrong?!"

"I'm outside your house in my car, can we go for a walk?" I asked hopeful needing someone to talk to.

"Sure I'll be out in a minute." He hung up and within a minute he was out of the house just like he had said. I jumped out the car still upset and he jogged over to me hugging me straight away and stroking my hair to calm me.

"Do you want to go to the park? We can talk there." I nodded as my response and he wrapped one of his arms round my shoulders as I rested my head in his chest whilst we walked. I realised I was in such a rush to get out of the house I didn't pick up a jacket and I was started to feel the cold autumn weather.

"Here, Lex" Luke moved his arm away from my shoulder momentarily to take his hoodie off. "Wear this." He smiled at me and put it over my shoulders and returning his arm to were it once was.

"No Luke you didn't have to do that! Your gunna get cold now." I looked up at him tears still threatening to leave my eyes.

"I can't have my girlfr- I mean- uh-" Luke stuttered, I smiled at his little mistake and lent up to kiss him on the cheek.

"Thanks for the jacket though" I smiled again and looked at his blushing cheeks. We stopped at the small gate to the park and opened it before walking in. Luke walked us towards a swing and let his arm drop so he could sit. I was about to sit in the one next to him when he stopped me.

"Lex come sit here." He patted his thigh and I went along with it because I needed the comfort anyway. "So what's up?" He said concerned, his nose nuzzling my ear and his hot breaths hitting my neck.

"My mum-she" I sniffed leaving a slight pause. "She knows about us ditching and stuff and she starting saying about how we know nothing about love and stuff and- oh my god Luke I'm so sorry I don't want you to think I'm some creep I'm not in love with you I- I-"

"Lex calm down it's okay...I don't think your a creep, I never would." He turned my head so I would look him in the eyes. "But I hope that last thing you said I can change over time" He had hope in his eyes and a slight smirk on his face and I looked down smiling uncontrollably.

"I like it when you smile." He said suddenly.

"Your too cute Hemmings" I poked his dimple and giggled.

"I know...our date is going to be great on Friday you know that."

"Where are we going?" We hadn't talked about it so I was unaware.

"That's for me to know and you to find out." He smirked again.

"How do you know I'll enjoy myself though?"

"Oh I know Lex." He chuckled which made my stomach flutter.

"Look it's like 10pm we should head back..." I started to not know what to say.

"We talked a lot over the phone I understand if you don't want to sit and talk anymore." He spoke softly and placed his lips on my temple slowly making his way down my face placing soft kisses as he went.

"Luke why do you get me like no one else does? I've never been able to express myself to anyone like I can with you." I moved my head so it was resting on his chest again and rapped my arms around his waist.

"You know that's the thing I've been asking myself about you." He kissed the top of my head and held me closer. Before I knew it I was drifting to sleep and I could hear Luke's soft snores above me telling me he was too.
