ACT ONE, forgotten home
CHAPTER TWO, harry potterIris could never forget the first encounter that she had with Harry Potter. It was before either herself and her brother attended Hogwarts. Cordelia had been gone for the week, because she was visiting Bellatrix Lestrange, leaving Iris in the care of her godmother, Alecto Carrow.
That was not something she enjoyed.
Alecto had confined the children to their rooms and Iris, being the person that she was, decided to take Oliver and herself and roam the streets of London. In hindsight, it was not her finest moment. She was only twelve and deeming that it was okay for her to take her young and impressionable, ten-year-old brother to the city, was not the best idea.
After almost being robbed (thank Merlin, Iris is a witch), she found herself sneaking her brother into a zoo. She had never been to one and wanted to see Muggle creatures up close. At the time, she wanted to be a magizoologist (until she took Care of Magical Creatures) and was fascinated by animals. Mainly snakes, which could provide an explanation as of why exactly she was sorted into Slytherin.
Classes would start soon and the first year was about to be the longest Iris had ever been away from Oliver. The trip would be a final moment where she gets to spend time with him. They made their way throughout the exhibit and came to the reptile one. Oliver, too, liked snakes and when he found this amazing looking boa, he couldn't take his eyes away. Beside the boa, however, was a boy.
Iris had a habit of studying people, and he was one of her lucky choices. He had emerald green eyes and messy, unruly black hair that stuck out all over the place, but it suited him remarkably. Iris couldn't help but feel that he looked very familiar and then she saw the lightning shaped scar. The boy caught Iris' gaze and she smiled at him with a smile that read 'I know something you don't'. It wasn't the first time Harry Potter had gotten one of those. He went back to his conversation with the snake before two boys ran beside him and pounded at the glass.
Iris raised an eyebrow as one looked at her and winked. Oliver groaned in disgust beside her. The glass of the snake's exhibit disappeared and it slithered out. Screams erupted from the Muggles and Iris looked at the snake as it slithered up to her.
''Hello there.'' She said.
''Hello.'' It slurred before continuing the journey. Harry stared at the girl in shock that she had just spoken to snake. Iris merely smiled at Harry before calmly walking away before Vernon and Petunia looked at the girl dressed in a floor length dress and her brother that was dressed equally as professional walked beside them.
''Freaks.'' Vernon had whispered. Iris balled her hands into a fist as she left.
There was another encounter a few days later as Iris was at Diagon Alley with Draco and her mother. Her mother was very angry at her and was still scolding her as she got fitted. Draco was going on and on about how he was going to get sorted into Slytherin, but Iris didn't really care.
